Thank you, Micke! Very educational! Actually I was that „some guy“. Thank you for following my request and explaining the IFR pick up. Now I understand why you don‘t like the RNAV cloud breaking procedure in LOAN. BTW, I just came back from LDPL with a DA-42 after a nice weekend at the Adriatic Sea 😎

As a dedicated viewer I coudn't resist the urge to contribute to the positive comments. Please stay exactly the way you are. That's who we all like and enjoy watching. Your tremendous effort of filming and editing doesn't go unnoticed. Leaving in the attempt at calling Richard was great and again shows that you seem to be a kind person. Please continue to inspire me/us!

Hi Micke. I didn’t see any negative comments, but find it hard to believe that anyone would have anything to criticize. I am a professional in a completely different field of endeavour, and an active private pilot. I love your videos, your attitude, and your professionalism. I am always excited to see when you have a new video. I know negative comments can spoil one’s day, and bring a bad taste to one’s mouth, especially when you put energy, enthusiasm and effort into something like this. So - take my advice (or don’t - you are doing just fine)…. IGNORE the sourpusses in the world. Do your thing, and be yourself. Most of us love it and wish you the best, and hope for many more videos from you!

Diesel and two engines makes allot of sense, although prices are still high, but the dream lives on ! lovely insight, profesiionaly flown from your side. keep those videos coming and best to you !

Please dont let negative comments even enter your mind, its so easy to annonymously drop comments, but so hard to expose your self, your passion, your work, plus all the effort to record, narrate, and edit-- I cant imagine that any comment would have a right to critique you in such a lop-sided relationship.

Another great video Micke - very professional as always. I'm going to transition from the DA42 TDI to the DA42-VI to complete my instrument rating this summer. Your videos are great reminders of both IFR and DA42 procedures! Suggestion for a future video - do a DA42-specific passenger safety briefing as if the camera were your (nervous, first-time-flying-in-a-light-aircraft) passenger. Would like to see how you do it in your enthusiastic yet professional style!

Vielen Dank für all die besondere Mühe und Beschäftigungen, die Sie tun, für alle ihre YT Hochladungen. Ich lerne immer etwas neues. Many thanks for taking the time to share. Something most of the detractors fail to take into account! Yes love the screen views - really helps with nailing down the ifr flow in the approach segment. If you do get a chance can you compare the difference between IFR in Europe and in the US. Get very confused as to why in some of Richard's videos that he is not cleared into airspace even if he is IFR! Assume Europe the same?

You’re right, a glas cockpit can give a ton of information. For people coming from gages it must be difficult to learn that. I always flew on a glas cockpit so this is why I am so familiar with it but don’t put me in an old cockpit with gages and say I should fly IFR, that would be so hard for me! I will try to tell the story in a future video. Thanks for watching!☺️

Helloooo. I’ve been enjoying your videos since crossing the pond with Martin. I’m not a pilot yet learning on youtube for now and one day I will fly. The more I learn of diamond aircraft the more obsessed I become. They are perfection. But hopefully when I start bigger engines faster and higher 😂 The editing, the cameras and most importantly you are always explaining very well what you are doing as many of us out here are not pilots yet. Ideas for videos A detailed video of the entire console. Maybe a video on doing the flight plan for IFR. You explain very well so please teach more. Maybe explain what other things you think or watch out for during takeoffs and landings besides the obvious. How do you prepare for emergencies? More details please. Thank you very much. Keep up the great flying and videos.

Micke, another great video. On the IFR clearance... how would you get your clearance if the Cloud Bases were lower than 6000', e.g. 3000'?... or even zero/zero at Wiener Neustadt? I'm not familiar with procedures and regulations in Europe, but as you may know, in the US I could from a non-towered airport call a phone number to get my clearance and clearance release -- even in zero visibility and zero ceiling -- takeoff into the clouds (probably on an Obstacle Departure Procedure), then once in the air get ahold of ATC Approach. I might not get radar-based traffic alerts from ATC until some nominal altitude (say 3000' AGL), but I'd be IFR and in the clouds from the moment I lifted off from the departure airport. Thanks for your excellent videos!! Wayne (2008 Lycoming DA40, KSBA)
@jakobeng1303

Hi Geezer, I think there are 2 things mixed up in the video, here Micke is not flying the IFR procedure out of LOAN (as in the SID) but instead departing VFR and and then picking up IFR once airborne. The altitude for the pickup could have been lower as well in other parts of the TMA, he possibly could have requested that but 6000 is a mix of MRVA lower limits and overall airspace design (6000 is still E airspace in the western parts of the LOWW TMA, so no entry clearance required but still pickup in ocntrolled airspace). LOAN actually has a specific IFR pick up procedure that allows for far lower minima but not 0/0 as you are still VFR up until 1400ft ASL. If I remember correctly that is still airspace G and therefore it's 5km horizontal vis + clear of clouds + surface in sight. In this case the cealing would have to be at least 1400ft

Micke, how much headwind did you have? I see 133 kt in cruise when you tried to make that satellite call, for a twin I'm quite surprised to see such a low GS (EDIT: or wait, is that TAS?). Btw loved the panel camera angle! So much more instructional.

Hi Micke, very cool videos! Do you maybe know what's the reasoning behind prohibiting recording of ATC transmissions in Austria and some other EU countries?

I’ve always wondered why the front dash with the instruments on airplanes are always sticking so high up. It seems like the pilot has to sit up and stretch his neck to see over the dash. Just wondering.

Are you a big guy or is the DA42 cockpit tiny? Your right arm seems to be taking up space on the right seat and your legs don't appear to fit. The plane just seems too small.

I am tall, 1.93 but to be honest I sit very comfortable. I actually like to sit with the legs up like that so there is enough space for me👍🏼 And it works fine to sit 2 in the front, it might also be the wide angle from the Gopro 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks for watching Antonio☺️

how do you know wich waypoint to take as the first one? and what would you do if clouds will be on 5000ft?
@MickeLang
@MickeLang 2 жыл бұрын
I am just routing in the direction of the first waypoint after the instrument departure out of neustadt because this is 99.9% the point which they will clear you to. But I am VFR at that point so I could actually fly in any direction. If I know they ceiling is below the minimum radar control altitude I would fly the instrument departure, the I could be in clouds at 1400 feet.

@@justintv1905 I correct myself, Radar Minimum Altitudes☝🏼 There is a chart from Vienna airport which tells it and since we do this IFR pickup very often we know which altitude it will be depending on which direction we depart👍🏼
