Great to have you back! Your videos are the best. I love that you post your mistakes. It makes me feel a bit better when I miss something or mess up a radio call. Another cool feature of the G1000 is the VNV Direct To button. It’s at the bottom of the FPL screen. It will activate VNV and descend direct to the altitude, no need to set VS and wait for a capture.

ATC gives you a circling approach (didn't know they could do that!) and then a left 360 in the soup...
