Anemoia. Trust me. If you feel that for the 80s, its completely normal. It and the 90s were the last truly great decades where life actually felt like you were alive. After that, it increasingly became going through the motions, and accepting virtuality in the stead of tactile and meaningful connections. People were not disposable like they are now. Personalities had free reign to shine through, people were interested in what the other had to say and felt true empathy for their feelings. It won't ever be that way again, but I was glad to have lived it. in 1997 I took my first Ecstacy double stack white love and randomly got in a car with two sexy blondes and we drove all night long. We made out, we felt the essences of each other. Life felt visceral, the only narcissism I felt was that which I represented with my physical being, unfiltered. And women were on blast for my enjoyment and it was because they wanted it that way. Now? its fucking gross.Nasty self aggrandizement. A loss of total perspective and self worth. Its a society I don't wNt to be a part of. And because most people fell in line and got married and had kids and subsequent divorces, it leaves single professional like me without hope. Theres no room anymore for the wolves of wall street.

That's how awesome the 80's really were...they reach out through time to people who didn't even experience them, and give them a shared feeling of belonging and hope for the future! I was born in 1972, grew up in the 1980's. Most of the best years, best memories of my life are from that magical decade. Even those older than me (parents age) agree. The 80's is a past that still feels like it's in the future. The 80's feels new even 35-40 years on. The 80's makes me feel young, it makes me look forward to years in life I no longer have in front of me. It makes me miss a girl that I've never met. It makes me believe in a future that's already passed me by. It's the impossible dream that still feels within reach.....

I know these are the lyrics all over the lyrics sites Google comes up with but I'm genuinely curious if these are official or The Midnight can confirm for accuracy. I must know! =) Listening closely with a pair of Headphones I hear "I never feel I could get enough" at 0:58 which fits the context of the following line. And I hear "Drive til' the coast is clear, fast until it disappears" at 2:06. Perfect track.

“fight until it disappears” sounds, to my ears, to be the only line where there is a bit of vocal distortion. Otherwise; I feel the artists enunciation is quite clear. But...if you must go searching until you get bulletproof verification, I wish you all the best. 😉

Music and film in the 80s were absolutely magical. Romance, comedy, scifi, action, suspense - the 80s was beautiful. I honestly don't believe i would have made it through the horror that was my life during those years without the beautiful background tapestry of music and film that came out of those times.

This takes me back to my childhood. I was 9 years old when I saw Back to the Future in the summer of 1985 in Toms River New Jersey with my cousin and his (our) friend Joe. Your music gives me goose bumps as it takes me back to those times. I will never forget the golden times I had in the 80s. Thank you so much.

Do you know why this kind of music makes us so melancholic? Because we miss what we didn't know. We know the future now. And even if we could go back in time, it wouldn't be the same because we know how things work. Therefore, we have to follow the predefined path to the result we already expected. That's why we miss the pass. We miss the adventure in believing. We miss the hope in the future.

As a kid that grew up in the 80s and 90s, I can honestly say many of The Midnights songs are able to hit that nostalgia perfectly. While I see the Gen Z and some young millennials "miss" this time, even back then there was lots of confusion and crazy times. Hindsight is always 20/20 or better but enjoy whats amazing now because its absolutely gone tomorrow.

Went through the deepest darkest depressions of my life last year. Self medicated, self destructive and empty. I dug myself out of that trench and learned soooo much about my reality. When I listen to this tune, I dedicate it to this expansivenes, to this messy magical life and how this little human overcame hopelessness

I saw this movie in the theater for a quarter and I remember I had just got spacers for my teeth in order to prep them for braces. The dentist told me not to eat popcorn because they would pop out, but I ate it anyways, and they popped out. This is nostalgia. When done correctly, (you have done so) it can bring up memories that were buried deep. It was the last movie I ever saw with my dad and there isn't a day that I dont think of a way to go back.
