Tragically beautiful. And once again he is lyrically masterful at taking it to the next level; this time by giving the male/female perspective of a relationship whose flame died. "I was wrong/we were wrong, loves a con/moving on" perfectly encapsulates when the relationship has ended with no real fault to blame... I know most of the album is much more uplifting but this is my favorite song here.
@kuraikusanagi78923 жыл бұрын
Exactly. To me, they both seem to be beating themselves up over it not working, and they both wanted it to. I've definitely had that happen, but me and her became best friends through it, and I couldn't imagine not having her in my life. We may not love each other romantically, but we'd still do anything for each other. Sometimes that's how it works out, other times... not so much...

The reason The Midnight are head and shoulders above all others in this genre (and are expanding retrowaves limited horizons)- At its heart a solid songwriter and lyricist Tyler . All the songs could be stripped back to simple acoustic versions which gives a form foundation for Tim to work his synth and percussion magic.
