Performers all the way. Look there's no pyrotechnics there's not a huge screen behind them or drones or auto tune there's just a group of men who got skills!💞💫

I agree. They let the music do the talking.

You’re right! In those days, this is how entertainers used to be. This type of talent today does NOT exist 2day. The good news is we can go on KZbin, pick the old skool acts we like and just stay in our lanes.

Though they did do pyro back then as did alot of other groups.

Pyrotechnics are frowned upon inside a television studio. But I agree with the rest of your comment 100%

Great funk, great singing, dancing, synching with the music. Those were the days of Funk! 1st met Commodores when they opened for Jackson Five 1st US tour July 1971. Won black radio contest for trip to NYC, front row tickets, hotel, limo, meet everyone. Loved Michael Jackson few years younger than me but Commodores Funk music blew me away. Lionel was 1st man I ever kissed..Followed him ever since to now in 2024❤😅

Costumes, dance moves, vocals, and tight music. This was back when bands had to deliver the entire package. Only the strongest bands, like The Commodores, made it to the top.

53 years ago this month July 1971 1st met Commodores, Lionel Richie backstage as opening act for Jackson Five. Lived meeting them all, talking with Lionel ( was impressive 17 year old fan). Also met Jackson Five and Michael was funny, quirky, fun! Wish I could go full circle, see Lionel backstage 1 more time..
