I saw this episode on the members only page. Good show, The Blackberries was a good sound for Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf was the host. Well worth the $ 4.99 I paid for membership. This is from Ep. 108. At the rate the MIDNIGHT SPECIAL is posting the Episodes. It will be over a year before this episode is a premier. So, with my Membership I have already See it. And other great episodes.

Written by Albert Hammond who wrote "it never rains in Southern California". Was on their 1974 reunion album "Slow flux", was released as the follow up single to "Straight Shootin' woman" which hit #29, but this song didn't chart well but is a very good song. Keyboardist Goldy McJohn always wished they had released "Gang war blues" as a single but they didn't. THANK YOU for putting this on here as well as all of the other great videos! There are great videos of the band out there, and I hope they ALL get discovered and put up so we can see them, and I really hope that their 1971 show at Royal Albert hall gets discovered and put on here!!!

Remember it as if yesterday. What a tremendous band. They are so not only about the 3 top 10 hits. Even the bad songs are interesting. Great band in my book. John Kay was a f’n star.

It's really not that great of a tune. Sort of mediocre really. Compared to other Steppenwolf songs.

I like the percussion on this one. I’m certainly no drum expert but I think he’s pretty unique for rock. I was thinking about Neal Peart while watching as of course he was one of the best drummers ever. But Neal danced by the beat of his own drummer too. RIP Neal, you are missed.

It’s hard to hear because of the mix but I watched the bass player a bit. He looks like he knows what he’s doing. I might have to listen to some Steppenwolf studio stuff now as I’ve never really listened much to their music.

That's George Biondo on bass, listen to his playing on the "Steppenwolf 7" album, the track "Renegade" especially. And also the next album "For Ladies Only", he had some great moments on there too. He then went on to be in the "John Kay band" from 1972-1974 until Steppenwolf reformed in 1974 as seen here, so he spent some years with the band and John. On the first and second albums you will hear Rushton Moreve, he was a very inventive and melodic bass player but was fired after the "Second" album which was a shame. On "Early Steppenwolf" and "At your birthday party" and "Monster" and the "Live" album you'll hear Nick St. Nicholas, he had some good moments but also some bad out of tune ones too as you'll hear on the "Live" album, and when he was fired that's when George Biondo came aboard. Enjoy the Wolf, they were GREAT!!!
