Vanessa I look forward to your vlog, it's a sheer delight to relax with a coffee and watch you and Zeph on your adventures. One of my sons owns an old 23ft Norman cabin cruiser and we cruise the Grand Union Canal mostly between Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamstead. We are both keen Anglers and quite often spend a couple of nights/days fishing where we moor the boat who's name is "Dotty". I came across something recently that I really liked: "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain." There will always be problems, worries, calamities and sad times. But if you can enjoy sitting in the wet grass playing with your dog and enjoy some tasty biscuits with tea, well it's all doable, yes? As I was watching your video I saw a deer go galloping past my screen door. I'm lucky my back deck over looks the green space, woods and community garden in back. Deer come frequently to snack at the bird feeders and steal veg out of the garden when it ripens. Bunnies munch on hostas and grass at silflay and squirrels earn the wrath of those trying who fill the bird feeders and tend the garden. But they're all part of nature and make it all worth while, I think. Have a good weekend! 😊

Welcome back Vanessa! Friday evening hasn’t been the same without you. I bet the swallows are feeling the cold, I’ve not seen any yet so far and that was a fabulous shot of the heron taking off! A sad time for you Vanessa, it’s so tragic that we have to lose loved ones, especially when they are fairly young. That was quite an epic journey to Essex but Zephyr looked very comfortable and happy on the journey. Zephyr's eyes are so soft and gentle-they will win anyones heart! So lucky you had the gas engineer calling quickly. Those rubber hoses were surprisingly petrified. “Aah” the whistle is back !! So missed last it last week ,thank you so much for including us on your journey , your sketch of the Swallow was wonderful ,I lived in the “sticks “ for over eight years ,every summer the telephone wires became festooned with scores of Swallows sadly after eight years their numbers were down by as much as fifty per cent a sign of the times I’m afraid !! I'm so sorry you have lost a good friend, I'm sure the eulogy you gave was a bittersweet tribute to your friend. I'm also sorry to hear of your diesel bug issue. You may need to have your fuel tank cleaned professionally, the diesel bug is gritty and can damage your engine. Regular doses of fuel additive should keep it at bay. Oh . . . Loved the mining bee hitching a ride, i've just discovered we have a colony in our front lawn - I was tidying up the garden last weekend and noticed I was being bothered by several 'worker bees' as i call them to my kids, I quickly got done and out of their way as they werent happy with my presence! 🤭 Did anyone else think Mr Swindell looks just like Joe Lycett?! Hi the other week.there was a truly stunning carpet of beautiful bluebells spread out for all to see .there majestic bells were waving in the soft breeze.shaded by many magnificent intruding trees. Thanks for the memories Vanessa. Lyme Park was a day out for us when I was a child. In those days I found the Cage frightening as it seemed to loom over us! Hi Vanessa. You travelled quite a few miles in this video story. Both on foot and by train. How did you manage Zephyr on the underground? Dogs are supposed to be carried, but maybe you found a lift, or stairs. We went up to the Cage a couple of years ago. I remember a NT property at the bottom of the hill (although the name escapes me). You caught a lovely shot of the heron taking off. Your engine didn't sound too bad to me, but the gas leak could have been very serious. But you and Zephyr survived the ordeal. I love the piece at the end where you boil the kettle, make your tea, arrange the biscuits on the plate and read the wonderful poetry, whilst sketching in the journal. xx

I love the way you are with your dog. I'm the same with mine but that aside, I had a similar gas problem myself. My boat failed its safety certificate because of gas pressure drop. The oven was connected completely with the wrong fittings. I bought the correct ones from Calor and my local gas safety registered guy came out and fitted it for £80.00 which was a steal. While he was there he tested my (never used) gas fire and found a leak there too. I removed it whilst he was there and he blanked off the pipe for nothing. He then issued me with a gas safe certificate which he sent to the original boat safety guy who in turn sent me a boat safety certificate. The boating community on the whole are great people. Please keep sharing your videos. They keep me going with my restoration to enable me to go cruising when I retire. I'll wave if I see you, as you suggested. Take care.
