Criteria for a good zombie apoc weapon: bludgeoning, aerodynamic, bit of range, doesn't require ammo. In lieu of a medieval war hammer, a golf club or aluminum bat works well! The fact that Simon and Nick (Shaun and Ed) are best friends in real life just elevates their on-screen chemistry. All the way back to their show "Spaced", which I highly recommend you watch/react to if you get a chance to.
@christhomasson11482 күн бұрын
Yeah, their chemistry is so organic that it makes any time they share a screen together feel so natural. Before spaced, they were flatmates (I think also with the director of the Cornetto trilogy and Spaced Edgar Wright too), with Nick's character in Spaced being written from a running joke character he used to act out for laughs in their flat. Their chemistry in Spaced is excellent, but they don't share as much screen time as their shared films. I adore their chemistry in Hot Fuzz - especially as Frost's role was initially written as a female character whom Pegg's character would have eventually developed a romance. Even after rewriting the character to be male and played by Frost, they kept a number of the scenes and dialogue from the original "love interest" character which comes across as hilarious and charming. I also really like the chemistry between them in The World's End, with the pair switching roles with Pegg being the slacker and Frost being sensible - their constant conflict is very believable throughout.
@EctoCorvis132 күн бұрын
@christhomasson1148 even in 'Paul', a non-cornetto movie,they had great chemistry and I love the fact that, even though Simon is way more famous, he still holds on to his best mate and the love they have for one another. Also, I love how the Cornetto movies are basically little "Spaced" and "Black Books" reunions
@christhomasson11482 күн бұрын
@@EctoCorvis13 yeah, Paul is great too. I like to see it as an unofficial companion to the trilogy as the pair are great in it, despite it not having Wright's classic directorial style. Paul is like a love letter to Sci-Fi and nerd culture with a ridiculous amount of Easter eggs sprinkled throughout. Yeah, I love the repeating actors across both Spaced and Cornetto trilogy, with Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy and Rafe Spall amongst others, all appearing in all 3 of the trilogy films. This film alone has a number of Spaced callbacks, such as their flatmate Pete answering the phone "Dom, Hi" while leaving to go to work - this is a direct callback to his Spaced character Duane who answered the phone in the exact same way. The character Tyres from Spaced played by Michael Smiley also appears as a zombie outside the pub in the final act of the film.

Hi Miranda. Greetings from the UK. Some facts here about the film I hope you and your watchers find interesting. ONE: The work badge that Shaun wears on his shirt, "Foree Electrics" well, the name Foree comes from the actor Ken Foree, who played Peter Washington in the classic George A. Romero zombie epic; "Dawn Of The Dead." (If you haven't seen it yet Miranda, well you should.) TWO: The outfit Dylan Moran ("Daffs") wears in this film, was inspired by the Dustin Hoffman character in the film "Straw Dogs." THREE: George A. Romero liked this film so much, he invited both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (director) over to Canada, were George was making "Land Of The Dead." Both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have cameos in the film, both as zombies. Their scene is in the "have your photo taken with a zombie" bit. FOUR: Both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, both massive George A. Romero fans in their own right, got their big break in a UK TV comedy series called "Spaced," which also starred Jessica Stevenson (Shaun's friend who comes to his and Liz's rescue towards the end.) In that, Simon Pegg shares a flat with others in a house. On his lounge wall there is a framed movie poster of George A. Romero's seminal "Dawn Of The Dead" from 1978. (Don't bother with the DOTD "remake" Miranda...it's dire.

I have given the "Weapon of Choice" question some thought. For "slow" Zs, it would be high magazine capacity, auto loader firearms, but probably a .22 Long Rifle caliber. Shawn of the Dead is not only one of the best zombie movies, but it's a testament to brilliant film making. Edgar Wright has one of my favorite directing styles where he'll foreshadow and line up call backs in the beginning, then deliver every pay off at least once more later in the movie. You'll see this in Hot Fuzz the most, where everything is immediately paying off if not loading up for the next joke, reference or plot development.

To this day, I still use the “You’ve got red on you.” line haha

Only 9 min in but the way you enjoy every little joke and clever line is really contagious (even for someone who's watched the movie lots of times already) and really really, well, enjoyable ^^ I hate reactors who miss half the movie or don't seem to enjoy any of it as much as I would. If I wasn't already subscribed, I would lol

Was happy to see you reacted to this! Hope this means you'll be doing Edgar Wright's other movies at some point. You'll enjoy them, I'm sure of it.✌️😎

Edgar Wright is the king of setups, shout backs and shout forwards, often at the same time. Something many have noticed is that when they're in the Winchester after Liz dumps him, Ed actually tells us the entire plot as foreshadowing: Bloody Mary first thing, a bite at the king's head, a couple at the little princess, stagger back here and bang… back at the bar for shots.
