I was born in 1989 so I missed this trilogy in the theaters when they first came out. On 10/21/2015 a local cinema near my house played all three of them back to back to back. During the second film when Doc brown said the line, "We're descending toward Hill Valley, California, at 4:29 pm, on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015." The whole theater erupted in a thunderous applause. You couldn't hear the movie for a good minute. That was such an awesome experience!

I know this is 5 months after the reaction, but I'll add this anyway. lol. The Bobs (Zemeckis and Gale) said that if they ever had any idea that there would be a sequel, they never would have put Jennifer in the car at the end of the first one. They assumed this was a one and done and Doc's return at the end of BttF 1 was a McGuffin. Then they had to write a whole script around the fact that she was in the car at the end. Which is why she is basically unconscious the entire movie.

Your reaction is the best I've ever seen, you enjoyed it about as much as I did. Of course, part two had to be Deja-vu, at least you were lucky, and did not have to wait 5 years for part 2. One night I was coming home from my night shift job, and I saw these really bright lights in my neighborhood, so I walked over to see what was going on and was thrilled to discover they were shooting the Mr. Strickland porch scene, at 2 am all of the spectators left but me, so now when I watch that scene, I can imagine my much younger self there taking it all in. I have said for years that this movie is both beloved and yet also criminally underrated. You almost NEVER hear it mentioned in conversations about sequels that are better than the original but I absolutely believe it to be superior than the first one. The way it weaves it's way from the present, to the future, and then BACK thru the first movie is just a masterpiece in film-making.

Don't no if you noticed Miranda as it was cut from the reaction and I don't know what version of the movie you're watching, but after old Biff comes back to 2015 with the DeLorean he collapses and seemingly fades out of existence; this is because in a deleted scene after Marty escapes from Evil Biff in the alternate time, his mother comes up to the roof, shoots and kills Evil Biff, so then Old Biff fades away because he died decades prior.

Some trivia about it is that both Jennifer and George were played by different actors. Because of the gap between films (1985 to 1989), stuff happened in between. the original Jennifer actress mom became ill and she had to step away from acting and Jennifer was played by Elizabeth Shue (Karate kid, Adventures in Babysitting) while Crispin wanted equal money to Michael J Fox and when the film company didn't agree, he walked. They ended up casting someone who looked similar but with prosthetics to make it look like Crispin. You can really tell in the scenes after Johnny B Good when Part 1 Marty is talking to the two of them. In recent years, October 21st is deemed Back to the Future Day and in 2015, the AMC near my house showed the first two films and timed it so the 2nd film started at the right time so when Doc read out where they were, it was that exact time!

This movie was one of the first (if not the actual first) live-action films I ever saw in a theater. And having loved the first adventure so much as a child, I was rabid in my hunger for more. The alternate timelines were always easy for me to understand, and I give huge credit to both the filmmakers and Christopher Lloyd for that. The character of Doc represents the audience, so his constant exposition is both necessary and appreciated. Chris managed to deliver those lines with such boundless energy and humor, that they all fell into place and you didn't need a science degree to grasp anything.

The reason 2015 George is upside down is to try to obscure the fact that it's not Crispin Glover who wasn't in part 2 and 3. He successfully sued Universal for using outtakes of him from part 1 without his consent. I only learned about that a few years ago. I always just assumed it was Crispin Glover.

@homiedclown Жыл бұрын
It actually went beyond that. Not only did they use previous footage, like you mentioned, but they also went to great lengths to trick the audience into thinking that Glover was still playing George. They actually used the face molds they made for his prosthetics in part 1, and put them on the new actor, to make him look more like Glover. Glover sued them for using his likeness without permission or compensation. He sued and won, so films can't just use the likeness of someone without their permission. Kind of prescient in this day and age, when they can practically create anyone they want digitally. Imagine making a movie that's a box office smash, and then the studio doesn't hire you for the sequels, because they can just create a CGI version of your body and voice without your permission, or even paying you. That's the kind of thing that the Glover lawsuit prevented.

@@megafan2000 If I remember correctly, he didn't like the message that the ending of the first movie made about materialism. He didn't like the fact that the movie implied that because they had more money at the end, that they were better people. That money=happiness. To kind of make the point, when it came to sign up for the sequel, he demanded an outrageous amount of money as kind of an F-U to the producers, and of course they said no to the amount he was asking for.

I feel you, Miranda, when you got confused by the Doc explanation of the fake 1985 situation; I remember myself as a kid, having to watch this movie many times before being able to get it. This trilogy is a real masterpiece and this second chapter is the best one in my opinion because of that highly intricate plot and by the fact we get to see three different times: the past, the present and the future, interacting to each other perfectly in the storyline. There is not a single moment when the story doesn't work, it's just perfect! This movie is used in film schools as an example of a perfect screenplay. Man how I love this trilogy! And for our generation of kids in the '80s, this is also a nostalgic trip to our sweetest memories!

There is a theory Marty died twice, once on Biff's roof, once in the tunnel after being rundown by Biff. That's how Doc knew when and where to be. Great reaction.
@starlighter93
@starlighter93 Жыл бұрын
I've never heard about this theory. It doesn't feel right to me though. I thought Marty went to the roof because that was the plan, that Doc picks him up there. The first thing Marty did was to look down, I supposed he was looking for Doc. Then he had an upset reaction for Doc's not being there already. The tunnel thing on the other hand was always a bit disappointing to me. It is clear that when they shot the scene, the car had to be pretty slow. Also that's the same thing Biff tried to do in the first movie, just before he hit the manure truck. Marty could have done the same stunt here. So it wouldn't have killed him. And Doc knew what was happening, he was following Biff's car from above the whole time. I'm guessing he went to the tunnel exit first, saw Biff's car do a 180, then he flew back to the entrance.

I know that's true of numbers 2 and 3, but I'm pretty sure #1 was written first. That's why you'll hear the story that the ending to #1 wasn't actually intended to be a sequel teaser, which is why Jennifer ended up going to the future in #2 only to be unconscious for most of the time.

Technically, what Doc explains on the chalkboard is Brane Theory. When Marty goes back to 1955 prime in the first movie, he creates 1985a, the time we see with the changes to the mall outside tiwn, his changed family, and a humble Biff. In the first of this movie its 1985a, followed by 2015a. Biff goes back to 1955 prime but fails to prevent 1985a, but creates 1985b, where he's super-wealthy and the town is a hellhole, this leads to 2015b, where Biff is living his best Biff life. When Marty goes back to 1955 from 1985b, he creates 1985c, which is much like 1985a, but Biff kniws about his future self and time travel, so its not quite 1985a because Biff is different. Marty also learns to be less impetuous when called "chicken", so he is not his 1985a self either. But in Brane Theory, 1955 prime also happens as it did the first time, leading to 1985 prime and 2015 prime, which we never see. 1985a and b also happen, leading to their respective futures, as does 1985c. And every one of those realities has a version of every person native to that Brane.

Great reaction. It's fun to see someone fall in love with the trilogy.🙂 Fun fact about the "future of 2015"--the filmmakers knew they couldn't really predict what would happen, so they didn't bother. They just went with what would be a fun setting for the future shenanigans, and one that was vastly different from the other two time periods.

Marty's dad is actually not played by Crispin Glover from the first one because apparently he was being very demanding to be in this, so the producers cut him out of the film and they cut his role so they used someone else since it wasn't a big roll anymore. It's also funny how when they first land in the alley and leave Jennifer there for a while. You can see all the trash are laser discs and cd's which basically came true since everything is streaming now. There are a couple of more things that came true. For example using your thumb print for identification. I'm glad you enjoyed this one because I really dig it also where a lot of people felt it was too confusing and feel it's the weakest of the three, but it's cool as hell.
