I'm actually watching the Mossie build for the 2nd time. Although I have been building for approx. 50 yrs (I did have to take some time off after serving for 32 yrs in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps -retired 2011.) I do not have the skills you have developed with photoetch, I really enjoy listening to your explanations and seeing the final result of your effort. I have picked up quite a few tips and tricks from your videos, keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing the Mustang (I have one in the wings), currently working on the old Revell F4U1 Corsair. Thanks for all the good info

This kit obviously carries forward the splendid quality of Tamiya’s 1/32 Corsairs, which can quite spoil one for other mfr’s kits. Watching this beautiful build is going to force me to do one myself, although I fear I won’t approach the quality of your work, sir. Just a joy to watch.

Well mines coming along (I think nicely) since my first comment in Part 1. You really are kind of special in the way you put over to the viewers, some like me have only been modeling for about 8 mnths and I'm sure the more experienced modeler watch your videos and can learn from what you do. You don't look down on anyone so as new commers don't have to feel intimidated, a straight talking Yorkshire (I think) man showing his skills. Looks like you bother to reply to every/most comments viewers make. Again many thanks and I like those clamps, I need some similar to get to the end of this video stage.

I was delayed this weekend as my two young children were staying over and I can't get them interested. It was well worth the wait though. The detail in the tail wheel for a plastic kit is impressive. Plus it's not as time consuming as Pontos. She's coming along nicely. You're also moving along a lot quicker than I expected. I think that you'll be finishing a lost sooner than I expected. It's not going to be a 20 week epic, not that I would have complained. See you on Friday all being well.

hi mark sorry for the delay in responding. I’ve been on with the mosquito this week and it’s coming along a treat. P4 coming up in the next couple of days 👍

Missed the premiere. Watched as soon as possible. P.s. Dutch subs on the 1 video I saw was good enough to understand. The spruegates on the mating surfaces are an invention by bandai in their gundam kits. It allows for better cleaning without removing detail. (Invention might be a bit strong but there is where I saw them 1st several years ago)
@TheModelShed3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Eeltje good news about the subtitles. Speaking no Dutch whatsoever I wouldn’t know how good they are! Interesting fact about the sprue gate design I didn’t know that. 👍

@@TheModelShed several gundam are gold or silver and with those "undergated" spruegates you can make the gundam without painting.

Hi Steve great, inspiring work as usual. I have this kit too but can't find how to get the tail wheel up in its closed position?
@TheModelShed3 жыл бұрын
Hi Georgina. Retracting the Tailwheel would require quite a bit of surgery to the upper part of the leg (the aluminum coloured part), the bulkhead, and retraction jack. The leg slots into the bulkhead so these slots would have to be removed and the leg laid horizontally in the fuselage. The problem would be finding a new secure fixing for the leg. The jack would also have to be shortened. I haven’t looked but I suspect that the angle of the lower forks would also have to be changed. To see what I mean there’s a drawing on this webpage which shows the wheel in both positions. ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/help-needed-for-mosquito-tailwheel-restoration.13791/

@@TheModelShed Hi Steve, thanks for your information. It seems Tamiya didn't make provisions for a wheels up Mossie; probably thinking everyone would want to showcase the model's superb interior details. Again thanks for your information and helpful link.

Hi Steve.. Another cracking build. Whats your views on washing kit parts in soapy water before priming? Cheers Geoff
@TheModelShed3 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoff - to be honest it’s not something I do with the parts on the sprues just because the parts get handled after and just pick up oils from your fingers. I sometimes wash assemblies in soapy water before priming if they’ve been handled a lot and to remove sanding dust - and on aircraft I wipe down the whole airframe with alcohol before painting.

It's no good, I've got to say something! I do subscribe & have watched several series of builds but your comments on filling slightly open joints added to your use of those blasted clothes pegs really winds me up. If you give back the clothes pegs back to the wife (she must be missing them) & use some dedicated 'coated' - for anti slip - smooth croc-type clips which will hang on close to the edge, will hold the edges closed & avoid the gaps & the filling. I am paused at 22 mins right now to make these comments where the clothes pegs are way too far into the plain of the horizontal stabilisers. But overall brilliant builds thanks.
@TheModelShed Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip I’ll take a look at using some of those. Just one observation though: I wouldn’t make the comments about the pegs to Mrs Shed’s face if I were you: the whole bag would probably end up in an uncomfortable place where the sun doesn’t shine.
