I was looking for a tutorial on compression so did a youtube search, clicked on a video and boy was I pleased when I seen your face because past experience has taught me that you my man are the real deal, I knew instantly when I seen it was you that I was going to properly learn something and not just end up more confused. Well guess what as usual, you did not disappoint. You are a fabulous teacher imho and I am very grateful that you do these tutorials because mere mortals like me would be lost. Take care and please keep doing this because you are superb at what you do.

Hi man, thx for the great tutorial. Do you know what is done to create the effect of hearing a person talk via phone as it's done so often in movies? Say the scene is of a person talking on the phone, and we don't see who they are talking to, we only hear their voice. Would love to know how common effects like this one is done.

Alternatively, you could use the vocal channel processor effect, which has an EQ for basic first adjustments. Then you can add dynamics and a final EQ once your base tone is setup. Just a thought for using FX DY EQ, since it's nice to have a the finer adjustments with in the EQ section for the final touches. There are so many different ways to acheive a great result, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for another great video. One thing though, I’ve been using Sidechaining as you showed here but I’ve been clicking Send on the vocal tracks compression window. Then, all the music tracks, I click Listen. It works but it’s different in your video. I think that you can use you method (adding Sidechain to Bus Outs) if you don’t use Send on the vox tracks. That’s my guess. It makes sense, though. The music compressor needs to know what to listen to. So, you can send via Send on the compressor or by adding sidechain to the Bus Outs.
