I've worked with them in union printing shops and the largest Canada Post facility in the nation, union as well. How does an international student get a full time union job with crown corporation pension? How does an international student work 50hrs a week when the law is/was 24? How does a Filipino with Canadian citizenship, working 5 years at walmart, get passed for promotion to international students? Because all were the same ethnicity as management. Seniors like me are struggling to live on $2,200 a month. I live in an old mobile home, pay lot rent, pay approximately $500 a month utilities, home u durable, car insurance on my 2006 car and when all other bills are paid, I am left with $300 a month for food , medications and toiletries. I wear second clothes and haven’t had a new pair of shoes in three years. Lost everything because of COVID lockdowns. Took CERB while not being able to work but CRA made me pay it all back. My son attended Saint Francis Xavier University (SFX) a few years ago after Trudeau became PM. Despite being Canadian citizens from Alberta, we were required to pay tuition that was only a little less than the international student fee, even though his mother’s family is from Nova Scotia. The university claimed he needed a Nova Scotia health card to qualify for the in-province tuition rate, which applies across East Coast universities. I had a lengthy debate with the Registrar, who held that without a Nova Scotia health card, he was effectively considered a ‘foreign’ student for tuition purposes. This policy seems unfair for Canadian students with family ties to the province. Universities are drunk on foreign student fees. It isn't fair for Canadians or for the international students who are paying high fees to cover administrator salaries.

O.k., So think about seniors and disabled people. I live on less than $15000 a year. And , the word " live " is subjective. I'm very lucky to have !lived in the same place for 12 years, and they want to keep good tenants, So my rent is fairly good. I still nee need to use a food bank,and there's no way to afford extras like cough medicine. I have $40 a week for groceries,a $10 a week for gas . I live in a small town, so the transit is not good. Our hospital is closed, so, if I get really suck, I have to wait for an ambulance to go to the closest hospital, and then figure out how to get home after. It's literally cheaper for me to take a bus 4 hours to see my son's family, than it is to take an ambulance. I cannot stand this government anymore.

David, I live in Ottawa and the CBC Radio Ottawa journos almost uniformly are Team Justin pom pom boys and pom pom girls. Hallie Cotnam pushing back against Mikal Skuterud, an immigration economist no less, when he blamed Trudeau and his henchmen for the foreign student fiasco is just one illustration of a much bigger problem. I noticed that Mikal Skuterud’s X feed that you referred to also provided a link to an old November 2022 episode of TVO’s The Agenda where he was part of a panel on immigration. The Agenda is basically a vile Team Justin propaganda organ, so I was surprised that not only was a Liberal-critical economist like Skuterud allowed on the panel, but that he was actually invited back at least once after that to slag Liberal immigration policies. Anyway, Skuterud has a lot of good things to say in those TVO segments, including this gem from the November 2022 episode: “But the rhetoric around. . . the idea that there are those labour market needs that need to be filled, that’s a completely perverse way of thinking about how an economy works. . . [L]abour demand and the jobs that we do are largely driven by the labour supply. If you look at how grapes are picked in the wine industry in California. . . they have porous borders and a lot of unskilled migration, so there the jobs that are apparently needed are. . . lower skilled workers. In Australia where that porous border isn’t there, those grapes are picked by machines.”
