Long time listener of this podcast and I really have enjoyed it everyday for years. I just wanted to write something about the story you told today about the woman who is trying to get her dog back from the shelter. The story she is peddling is completely false. I work in rescue and I can promise you that the people who are now taking verbal bullets over the spread of this false story work every single day, exhausting themselves caring for family pets who have been discarded and I can’t fathom how they are feeling. This woman adopted this dog, was told by numerous people to continue testing (no tests were done,) and instead of surrendering the dog back to the shelter he came from, or asking them for help, or even euthanizing him at her veterinarian’s office at her request, she instead went to the pound and paid $15 to do so. The shelter had nothing to do with any of this. And if money was not an issue like she claims (which I would completely understand if it was,) why wouldn’t she euthanize him at her vet so that she could be with him? She ran to the pound to put him down where she knew she could not be with him. The $15 cost and this policy is plain as day on their website. The pound, after she insisted that he be put down, made the judgement call after she left to call the shelter he originally came from to ask for help. Which she could have easily done. That shelter, though so overcrowded with dogs, came and took him back and then fundraised to get him testing and saved his life. They are heroes, not villains, like you so insensitively (even if not deliberately) called them in today’s episode. So no, she should not get this dog back and good on the shelter for not even considering it. Good on the pound for calling them. She’s slandering their name now, the same people who stepped in and saved her dogs life, when she did not. If there is ever a story to retract, please let it be this one. This isn’t pop culture (though I have tuned in for many years for the fun of it all) and spreading this story is wildly harmful to the small community of people in this world trying to save as many lives as we can everyday. This specific shelter has saved over 45,000 lives and 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized every year in the United States. Making the most difficult decisions for your pets is beyond painful. I can’t understand her thought process at the time, but this story is a blatant lie. The former owner conveniently wiped all of her social media since the shelters statement. The shelter didn’t at all attack her in their statement, just stated the facts, despite her story spreading far and wide. This podcast is something I really look forward to every day. One of the things that I really appreciate is how much light you shine on Jewish culture and your community. This is one of the reasons why I have listened to you both these last months on this issue despite disagreeing with you. I genuinely like you and admire you, and, because I want to hear different sides and reasoning to contrast my own, I have listened to you since October 7th. I think the reason antisemitism is often brought into the picture is because of the double standard and obsessive focus on the world’s only Jewish state defending itself from terrorism (which you’d do too if it was your family members captive in there, by the way). Are people you know as passionate about the Ukrainian mall that was just bombed by Russia killing hundreds of civilians? Or kids starving and dying in other countries I could name if you want? If the answers no, there’s a chance people’s hyper-fixation with the Jewish state is a little disproportionate and antisemitic. Also, I grew up as a evangelical Christian girly- Literally by the time I could talk (or before) I was taught that Jesus was a Jew and hence they are God’s chosen people. To us, Israel is considered the “holy land”. The land God chose for his chosen people. Christian school 101- when God first speaks of Israel He says, “I will bless those that bless you, and curse those that curse you” (Gen 12:1-3). She surrendered the dog to the rescue to be euthanized because she didn’t want to pay for the vet to euthanize but the rescue was able to give the dog the surgery they needed. Unfortunately, they don’t give back surrendered dogs, in most cases, unless it’s surrendered as a stray.

Because the IDF has never been violent without first being provoked in SOME way. Israelis want peace, they’ve accepted peace proposals and two state solutions and they were not the ones who broke the ceasefire that was in place before October 7. The IDF is a moral army that tries their best to warn civilians on the enemy side during a war, which is not something any other army in history has done to my knowledge. I appreciate your question and I personally know many many IDF soldiers and not a single one has a blood thirsty bone in their body. Not a single one wants to be fighting in Gaza right now but they have literally no choice. Judaism values life like they said. They are only in Gaza to retrieve their hostages and prevent another massacre on Israel.

My final VPR take away is that two things can be true. Ariana was hurt and deserves all of the good things that have come her way. Lala was hurt and treated unfairly by the cast, and deserves to have her feelings. Like the girlies said, I think Lala looks at Ariana and sees the rally of support, and the fact she bounced back into a relationship so soon. And Lala has written off all men and has severe trust issues based off what happened to her. They’ve handled their situations differently.

Love you girlies however the statement on the 5th story is COMPLETELY FALSE! There were so many incorrect things in the article the girls read from. I do have a strong affiliation with this rescue (two family dogs from them and countless volunteer hours), but the role of the Montgomery County Shelter and LDCRF were used interchangeably, while they both played a very different, unique role. I encourage everyone to read the full statement about the pupper on Lost Dogs website as they have the receipts and timeline for everything. Jam, is very good, there's so many good kinds of jam. 🍇Grape,🥜 peanut butter, and cherry🍒, and strawberry 🍓and apple butter,🍏🍊orange marmalade, peach jam 🍑, lemon 🍋 curd, and wow, I'm hungry for breakfast or lunch.
