Except for the purple shroud, the '96 RM250 was a beautiful machine. I love when Suzuki puts their name on the seat, which they don't often do.

Ricky RYan was riding a 1997 250 RM. One day at Hollister he Overjumped the Elevator Shaft and saild about 150 feet landing on a hay bale. He shrugged it off and rode away.

I have a 97 resto-mod. It's been a great bike! Factory connection sorted the suspension and now this bike is like a scalpel. It's got very mild port work and a fresh plated cylinder with a wiseco piston, minor head work,FMF fatty/power core, and v-force 3 reeds, put a flywheel weight in it for occasional woods riding. I have absolutely no complaints. Love everything about the way it rides/handles and power is plentiful.

Thank you Tony . I had 89 Rm250 89-91. 92 Kx250 a few years old and then 93 Cr250R- loved them all, wanted a 96 Rm250 new but did fine with my 93 Cr that was excellent. Just got a 96 Rm250 with Race Tech suspension and pro circuit exhaust. Not as fast as our 2001 Rm250 but fantastic still. Hope to race the 96 soon .

Bought the 96 brand new , after sorting out the jetting issues and spark plug , my 96 RM250 which is basically the 97 model was absolutely killer in performance , handling , looks , reliability. My riding buddies had newer different brands , my 96 was so much better.

My 96 was awesome. Raced a 125 also. Both had motor done by Eric Gore(lacked the top end I was used to on my stock CR’s and my 95 Noleen Yamaha) Great bike other than the clutch. I broke a lot of clutch plates for whatever reason. Front forks were incredible. The rough downhills at Millville were so fun charging hard

Idk if there were alot of complaints but I believe the diva in McGrath wanted excuses if he lost. Albertyn kicked but on every factory Suzuki and at the time Stephen everts. Yeah I'm a die hard RM guy and I believe if they had a James Stewart type earlier in the game (88 to 04) they could have won more than just locally and at the amateur pro level.

This was a fantastic bike for the local rider, except for the clutch and component quality. My buddy had one when i had my 97cr250 and his bike was better except for the engine. My engine was better. We both had aftermarket pipes and reeds.

This is still one of the best looking bikes ever. Unfortunately, the Suzuki was an absolute piece of junk. As apiring pros we'd get two free bikes every year and put 2000$ per month in parts in these things. That was a ton of money back then. When Mcgrath lost his championship aboard the RM, it was nobodies fault but Suzuki alone. They simply didn't have the support for their riders that Honda did. If only HRC would have continued working with the steel frame perhaps they'd be where KTM is today.
