Kodiak Island is CRAZY!! - Ep. 9 - Kodiak Island Mountain Goats

Everyone is going different directions. While Chase is headed to Texas to look for aoudad, Kevin is in Arizona helping a friend with elk, and Jay and Sam fly to Kodiak Island in Alaska to hunt mountain goats and maybe blacktails. The weather conspires against them, however, with strong sustained winds and heavy fog.
Season 4 heads back to Alaska as Jay hunts mountain goats on Kodiak Island.

Best thing about a daily series is it shows the hunt as it really happened. There are days were weather makes things tough. Much more real than a short film highlight real! It shows the grind. Looking forward to the rest of the Billy hunt.

I really like the Arcteryx pants. They're my favorite pant for any hunt in cool weather. I like that the attack pant has hip vents. If the Gamma pant had them, they'd be the perfect pant. Until then, I'm still looking. The Attack pant is a close second for me.

Since you are from AZ how did you able to hunt sheep on your own Didn't see a guide.

Pat I am from Arizona. This was a hunt with Rogue Expeditions, a licensed outfitter in Alaska. I was accompanied on this mountain goat hunt by two guides, Jeremy and Julian. We had one licensed guide, Liam, also working for Rogue Expeditions on our sheep hunt. It’s all fully legal and by the book.

Thanks William. We like the Vortex HS-LR FFP, the Razor AMG (which is excellent but pricier), and have the HS-T on this rifle 14X and SFP. We also have the new second gen Viper PS-T, and it's excellent too. We're going to do a series on gear, and when good enough is good enough, and when the best money can buy is the right way to go. Hope you'll tune it to it and let us know what you think.

Tearing it up guys. My question and probably my biggest fear about going to Alaska, is how do you get the meat and head home? I've looked into flights from the Midwest to Anchorage and the lay overs can be crazy. Just curious how everything faired for you guys.

Hunt Ready cheapest way I've found to get meat home from AK is to try and get it frozen then check it on your flight as checked baggage. We do it with Salmon regularly and have no issue even during the summer.

Just what James said. That's how we did it, and the meet made it to PHX in August, and then a 2.5 hour drive to Flagstaff and was still frozen solid when we got it to the processor.
