This is a very good exercise. A lot of people have problems with hip mobility.

Great movement to work on. I'm a competitive cyclist, my only thing to note, is you need to do A LOT MORE than your run of the mill 10 reps here and there for this to make a difference. In my case, I spend hours upon hours doing something that my hips don't like, so to cancel that out, you need to do the work off the bike. I started off doing this way more than anyone would think, basically until failure many times a day (PT as well, this wasn't blindly done). Failure isn't until you're exhausted, it's when you start to lose form in the motion. Either way, that's what it takes to make a difference with accessory movements like this. Yes, it takes time and you have to commit to it, but that's the deal. If you're a TV person, do it while you're watching TV instead of being idle, and if you have pets, they'll be sure to help you for sure.

Wow!, I just did 3 reps of the 2nd exercise and got such a pleasant pop in my hip where I usually experience an impingement sensation. Ill be doing these a bunch, thanks!

More motion! While at my desk in a cubicle, so - pretty stoked to have exercises easy to work on any time - thanks!

Finally exercises that actually work. My hip internal rotation is extremely limited on one side and all the normal stretches do is hurt me but you see no improvement whatsoever. The effects of those 2 are mind boggling.

Thank you,Matt. I am dealing with thight hip flexor because it helped me a lot too much gluten activation, and I tried this. Amazingly, it worked.

Immediate 20 degrees. Never been able to do that before. Awesome!

That hip hinge bend has been a game changer for me. I try to do it when im picking stuff off the floor and unloading the dish washer. It took a while to really feel it in the glute. The snapping and popping has gotten a lot better. I still have a lot more work to do tho.

New info and insight but it would be much more acquired understanding if the role of the adductors in relation to the hip was discussed too. Thanks

The poster capsule mobilization would be more effective flat on the back with small pad under sacrum for elevation and feet on the wall 90 by 90 so there’s no limiting compression in the seated position 🙌

I was a college fencer and a middle rank in karate. I used to be able to do a full split and could do a round house kick over the top of a 6 ft talk person’s head. Fast forward 35 years of sitting at a desk and I have maybe 5 degrees of internal rotation and constant pain. The older I get, the better I was

That worked so well! Thank you! Question, as I hinge over, I do feel a stretch in the glutes but I also feel it down to like around ankle toes.. not sure if that sciatica or just neural tension, what would you suggest? Just continue to do it? Thank uou!❤

Thanks for the video Matt! So does engaging the adductor pull the ball back into the socket and the SL hinge pattern uses that space and integrates it with proper hip extension? Would this be helpful for someone dealing with hip pinching on the same side they had a past hip labrum surgery on?
@utryshy26085 ай бұрын
Hey thanks, I tried it once today and it relieved some of the tension I've had in the glute and lower back. I've been having hip pain and sciatica for 2 years. Almost all of the physio protocols cause flare ups. I'm waiting for a MRI with contrast to see if I have some kind od FAI. My adductors have been so tight in the last few months, external rotation has become painful as well and my range is more limited. Do you think improving hip IR could have positive effects in hip ER ?

Are either of these supposed to be vey painful? Shifting my knee forward on the side of my problem hip (right side) creates a lot of pain Lilewise, doing the hing with my right foot forward creates a lot of pain when reaching my shin

Would you recommend just working on the side with the issue or doing both sides
@kingelijah4189 Жыл бұрын
both sides just to be safe
@hamidman697410 ай бұрын
Only the side with the issues, usually left side. Right side usually needs to improve external rotation.

First exercise with the roller, it's fine pulling back but when I relax it to go forward it makes a loud pop. Is this normal or I shouldn't do it?

Yeah... no improvement. 30 years of painful hips, moderate to severe arthritis in both hips, two torn labrum that have calcified over... I really don't want a hip replacement even though that seems like my only hope at this point. 35 years as a personal trainer and a nurse, married to a doctor, and also have a daughter that's a PT... I've tried it all but keep coming back to KZbin looking for a miracle "I never thought of that!" video

Yeah man. It seems I'm on the same boat. Also a nurse and same problem with hips. Squat university seems like the best Channel so far. I'm planning to go see him this year.
Look for PST (pulsed signal therapy) It saved my hips. Ostheoarthritis level 3, doctors wanted to replace my hips. I did PST and nowadays I play bball 3 x week and jump rope and calisthenics everyday
