Phones were indeed fun back then, even if you didn't own one, just the sheer excitement of living in an era when the line between art and technology started to get blurred, owning to the fact I was just 8 years old back then, was quite amazing for me. Keep them coming, Mr. Mobile!

Good to have you back with another excellent video - You highlighted really well that micro period (basically 2009) of pre-smartphone smartphones; clunky interfaces, unresponsive touchscreens, tiny number of proprietary apps. It's actually a really interesting area because looking back we went from 'dumbphones' to android/iphones really quickly. I hope you can feature more of these devices that fell through the gap

Yeah, if you were lucky you get an operating system with a proper app market (symbian, maemo, a crazy thing that in Europe we know as "Vodafone 360", etc), otherwise you only got a bunch of pre-installed apps (basically Facebook, twitter and some unknown im services)
@TheMrMobile

Given enough horsepower, touchscreen feature phones could end up alright. Samsung Jet / UltraTouch were pretty good, probably would have had one of those over a Nokia 5800, though IMO at this time these phones were mostly gimmicks and hype. The industry's turning point was mid year 2009, suddenly you could get a proper, big screen, fully capacitive real smartphone for the same price or less than these, and by the same time in 2010 you could get yourself an HTC Wildfire, a perfectly capable droid-based phone for less than $300. I really do miss this brief period in time, it was so exciting.

In 2009, I was in 8th grade, and had the LG Chocolate Touch. It had 2 interchangeable back covers in either black or purple with a weird rubberized pattern on the back, and was supposed to have a great music player. It was very similar in design and functionality to the Crystal, but without a physical keypad. I had it through my first month of high school as a freshman, when I got an LG Ally to replace it (but only had that a year before I realized how much of a flop it was).

They were hoping we could endorse the phone as impressive new tech. After my hands on with it, playing with all the gestures and going through the menus. I had one thing to say about it, it's cool, but it's sluggish and painful to use. They quickly thanked me for my time, packed everything away and ushered me out the offices. That was the last we heard from LG.

Wait...LG can't leave the phone business. I gotta get that phone that has the case with the second screen before they do. best idea ever.

It's so surreal to think that LG stopped selling phones..but their last phone swinging was a literal wing-like phone. They truly were like Samsung, willing to do some weird and wacky stuff just to show they could.

A phone I had that was a big stylistic departure at the time was the Sony CMD Z5. Cool as hell. Yes, I'm old.

You should definitely take a look at the LG Viewty loved taking pictures and even slow motion video on that thing. Literally like someone glued a very underpowered phone on the back of a classic looking digital camera

The all metal LG slider phone that had a joystick or a scroll bar is beautiful! I forgot its name. Also the LG Chocolate & Renoir.

I remember shopping in Akihabara in Tokyo in 2011 I came across a brand new LG Crystal it was only 10,000 yen or approximately $100 I bought it on the spot I still have it I still use it and I actually just gave it to my seven year old nephew so he can use it for his first cell phone he loves it just as much as I did I have never gotten anything comments on the phone as I did with the crystal!

Finally you did it! I've been waiting for this phone to be reviewed by you. Its one of my favorite phone as it disguises it as if its a touchscreen phone then slides that mesmerizing keypad. Surprise us again and keep making this content. There a lot of phones that are hidden and shadowed from the dawn of the modern smartphone, the "iphone".

I have the 2017 LG G6 - Alive but super slow now but I still won't let it go or put it to rest. It still is a fabulous glass bar in the sea of punchhole and super common glass/plastic bars.
