- Lord Wavell anticipated that after the Allies victory in sight it would be difficult to deny or delay the transfer of power. Therefore, he hastened to prepare conditions for it, but communal settlement between the Congress and the league seemed impossible. On February 13, 1944, Lord Wavell delivered his first important speech addressing the joint session of the Central Legislature. The important point in the speech was the emphasis on "united country enjoying complete and unqualified self-government as a willing partner of the British Commonwealth".
- The Rise of INA: During the course of the Second World War, armed revolutionary activities continued to take place. The role of Subhas Chandra Bose towards such activities is incomparable. On 2 July 1943, Subhas Chandra Bose reached Singapore and gave the rousing war cry of ‘Dilli Chalo’. He was made the President of Indian Independence League and soon became the supreme commander of the Indian National Army. He gave the country the slogan of Jai Hind. The names of the INA’s three Brigades were the Subhas Brigade, Gandhi Brigade and Nehru Brigade. The women’s wing of the army was named after Rani Laxmibai.
- The Indian National Army marched towards Imphal after registering its victory over Kohima. After Japan’s surrender in 1945, the INA failed in its efforts. Under such circumstances, Subhas went to Taiwan. Then on his way to Tokyo he died on 18 August 1945 in a plane crash. The trial of the soldiers of INA was held at Red Fort in Delhi. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhulabhai Desai and Tej Bahadur Sapru fought the case on behalf of the soldiers.

Please use numbers in English. like Nineteen forty five for 1945. Nevertheless being from Kerala I can understand Hindi, but numbers in Hindi- big sorry. I can count till 30. The Hindi numbers are not continuous system and is entirely different from South Indian system . First ,I have to convert from Hindi to my language, then from my language to English. And this is a time consuming for us south Indians.Don't blame me and tell me to learn Hindi, at this age it is not easy to learn entirely new number system. Thank you.

bose publicly condemned some of the 'rightists' and some 'gandhists' and said that these people want compromise with the Raj. then these older leaders hesitated to work under such a person who has publicly condemned them . Nehru , his one the prominent leftist friends , too did not liked it, although nehru condemned so called gandhists and rightists for countering bose.

Why don't we recognize failures of Gandhi ? He wasn't able to achieve even a single objective , Neither we got freedom without the consent of Britishers nor we were able to stop partition of our country. Saying that we freedom without bloodmath is also false, therefore we were able to achieve nothing. After II World war almost all countries got freedom therefore attributing this to Gandhiji and other freedom fighters is like worshiping the false gods ( like our dalit brothers do with Bhimrao Ambedkar , who was cynical, reactionary and loyal towards Britishers).

sumwhere you are mistaken to understand history every1 played role in freedom struggle but it could hve been achieved before if different idiological personalities unitedly fought for freedom rather then idiologist approach.. same way in current scenario we can be called developed nation but all political party work for party agenda rather then working for nation

Winston churchill inspite of winning the WW2, lost the election and Labour part headed by Atlee won as Britishers felt that Atlee would be suitable to post war reforms though respected churchill for his heroism. Atlee was empathetic and sent the Wavell to resolve the problem in India and grant independence
