You just summoned the Nightwish Army!) Thank you for sharing your reaction! Well, you've just witnessed Her Majesty Northern Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen, she is Dutch). She has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. Floor is the most versatile and powerful female singer today and can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. She is singing not words but emotions. And she is really tall, I mean 6'1 + heels. Nightwish is a Finland symphonic metal band formed in 1996. Floor joined Nightwish in 2012 in the middle of a world tour, and before that they had Anette as a frontwoman, and before Anette - Tarja (Tar-ya). For Floor it was first really big gig with NW, 82K people, at the time she was only for a few month with the band. This song was performed at the end of 90min show, at the 1hr 10min mark. The bassist with a cool beard is Marco, and he sings some parts too. The mastermind behind 99% of lyrics and music is a keyboardist Tuomas. Guitarist name is Emppu, and the drummer in this show is Jukka (Yukka), but later he was replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues. Flutes/uilleann pipes/guitar/vocals - Troy, he did not perform in this song. Nightwish is better live, always, so if live performance is available, go for it. In their performances, they often using recorded backtrack of a classical orchestra for their songs. They have very diverse music, from more light songs to epic scores like this, and to really heavy metal stuff. For the next step, I can suggest listening to: - Storytime from the same Wacken 2013 live - for move heavy: Ghost River, Song Of Myself, both from Wacken 2013 also - If you want to explore more Floor versatility, check out her performances on a TV show Beste Zangers in 2019. The music is called symphonic metal and is very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists 1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005) 2 Anette Olzon (Swedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012) 3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of. Band members Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics) Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals) Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (The drummer) Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player) Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK) The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. @Derek Charette I have the feeling I'll disappoint you, because I'm not worship Floor. She is a down-to-earth person for what I saw in her interviews, and that is a sign of a strong character. On the other hand, I consider her as a one-in-a-generation artist, and it's a shame she is not recognized world-wide for that. Her brilliant interpretations with Nightwish first, but also in her solo projects, full of optimistic energy, helped me to feel the taste of life again after a depression, and I'm not the only one in this situation as I learn in last years. I don't see her as a god as you said, I see her as a very talented singer who deserve personal happiness, professional recognition and success.

@Derek Charette Wow, I don't know who hurt or traumatized you in your life to leave you full of negativity, but people who lash out at other people by calling them mentally ill are actually suffering from some form of mental illness themselves . By internalizing anger and projecting onto others. If you really think people worship Floor Jensen on a religious level instead of a love for her extraordinary talent then Im sorry for you and your inability to enjoy music without judging people. With that being said , not everyone agrees on music. We all have opinions and all have the choice of how much energy we put into focusing on the artists we prefer. I love this woman's talent and I share her music with my friends in America who like me, had never heard of Nightwish or her previous bands. I consider myself a proud soldier( for music ) in the Nightwish Army. There is only one person I worship and it's not Floor Jensen. Please take your negativity somewhere else. Maybe a therapist .

Nightwish's 3 singers: 1. Tarja (original singer) 2. Annette 3. Floor (current singer) everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out. so, it comes down to "Targasm (Tarja) vs Floorgasm (Floor)" in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she can do, but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish (many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here) ---------- if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones: (NOT ranked, just listed) 1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down) 2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004) 3. Wishmaster 4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well) 5. End of All Hope 6. Dead Boy's Poem 7. Nemo (watch the official music video, NOT her concert performance of it, as it's really good, this is probably what got most of us older fans of nightwish, hooked to nightwish and her, after finding/watching this song by her and nigthwish) 8. Kinslayer and many more too -------- best somewhat similar epic bands: (NOT ranked, just listed) 1. Nightwish 2. Within Temptation 3. Evanescence 4. Epica
