🔪 Have you ever wanted to make your own knife sheath, but didn’t know where to start or how to make your own template? Then discover how to make a knife sheath for almost any knife you own. A one of a kind knife sheath that showcases fine craftsmanship and technique.
In this course, you’ll discover:
✅ How to make your own pattern for almost any knife shape, with a simple hack using graph paper and card.
✅ How to make a quick and cheap foam prototype to prove your design before cutting into any quality leather.
✅ How to create a turned edge for clean edges that showcase your craftsmanship. No burnishing, edge paint or bindings needed. You don’t even need any sheath making experience, you can make them for outdoor knives, hunting knives or even your kitchen knives at home. Here I reveal all my tips and tricks for creating and you won’t even need a skiving knife!
✅ How to recess your stitching in a grove to protect the thread. But without compromising on those beautiful angled stitches, combining the best attributes of western and European style leatherwork.
✅ How to line and wrap your snap fasteners for a neater, more completed look, creating an invisible join.
🛠️👉 To make this project, you’ll need 0.5mm skins and 2mm vegetable tanned leather if you want a turned edge. Or 2.5mm vegetable tanned leather if you want a simpler, easier to make sheath with burnished edges.

This knife sheath is ridiculous, and I love it, I'd almost want to go a couple of steps further and make it berkin-esque

Thank you! Yes, I wanted it to be different. I guess you could always add some piping instead of a welt :D

Philip, If my first attempt into leathercraft looked as good as your knife, I would be soo pleased! I do think it is necessary to keep your first projects. To look back and remember where you started and even to show others who are embarking on this craft and presume they can't achieve the same level (that you are now). Tempted to join the class... /Jan

Thank you Jan! Agreed, I made sure I kept the sheath for that very reason.

Sir; I wish to make a knife sheath using ostrich skin. Is it necessary to pound down all of the "pearls" before using the skin? I have noticed that you have done this when you use this skin but I really do not like the look. So, please tell me if there is a structural reason to do this and I will do it. Thank you so much.

What you do with the pearls is purely aesthetic. They are soft and can catch on things, but other than that, it's just for looks.
