I worked on the original BACK TO THE FUTURE and so many other films and TV shows highlighted in your videos... I too am British but have lived in the HOLLYWOOD area for some 48 years. Yes, I know all the locations being a HOLLYWOOD historian, even gave tours of such and the movie ranches within the 30-mile Studio Zone. We shot the scarecrow and barn scene of BACK TO THE FUTURE at the Disney ranch... People wonder why I don't start a KZbin channel, but I admire the younger people who do it... @@msvdronetube When I gave location tours in the 1980's, I was the first to show my guests edited clips of the classic movie locations I was showing them, using a portable VHS player. I won a few industry awards for these tours which were very specialized, not the usual and literal "taking folks for a ride." Yes, I worked on so many Universal movies like the original BLUES BROTHERS, SCARFACE, PSYCHO II, XANADU and numerous TV shows... At Warners I was on the original LETHAL WEAPON, worked for producers Michael Landon, Aaron Spelling etc... I even produced documentaries on the studios and locations. Yes, I knew the value and importance of movies and TV pop culture, and their value in social engineering us into the Twilight Zone we are in now. As well as knowing the locations, I knew the people that made them iconic. I knew people like the legendary Rod Serling, and boy was he right about what was to come! And the statue of Liberty scene in PLANET OF THE APES, that was Westwood Beach, just south of the popular Zuma Beach, and I knew matte artist Emil Kosa who painted that statue!

I’m so interested in Movies and TV shows. I find driving around LA to be one of my favourite things in the world as everything looks familiar to me. Blues Brothers is my all time favourite movie. I’m yet to visit Chicago to do a road trip of those filming locations. I’m gutted that they’ve demolished Rays Music Exchange in recent years. Rod Serling was a master of his craft. I watch at least one episode of Twilight Zone a week and enjoy picking out which ones we’re filming on the Universal Backlot, which it turns out was most of them actually. It’s such a shame that they’ve recently destroyed part of the Warner lot too. Lethal Weapon, Christmas Vacation, American Beauty to name a few are all iconic movies and I’m sad I’ll never get to see them again. Do you have any online links to those documentaries or have they been lost to time? I’d be fascinated to watch them and I’m incredibly grateful you’d be commenting on one of our videos. Thank you

@@msvdronetube Unfortunately I don't have any links to show my work, being an old man now I have trouble just trying to stay alive... As for the TWILIGHT ZONE, only the first season was shot at Universal, and the same for RAWHIDE... they both found a home at MGM for the rest of their runs. Speaking of Universal and the BLUES BROTHERS, I did the LA and studio locations -stage 1 the CW "Rawhide" bar, stage 6 the Aretha Franklin diner, stage 27 the James Brown church, the Hollywood Palladium was the Illinois auditorium, the Blues mobile took off in Chicago and landed on Universal's New York street... the same street that was tarped up for all the night scenes shot in daylight for STREETS OF FIRE etc., etc. Even in old age I have good recall of all that, but I often forget what I did 2 minutes ago!

I really hope that the folks at Bob's Big Boy let you know the history of that particular location. There is a booth, to the right against the first partial wall, that is the booth that the Beatles sat at when they visited. It is marked by a plaque. Also, Elvis Presley filmed his "68 Comeback Special" just down the street. Since it was a secret concert (they didn't want tons of people without tickets showing up trying to get in), they didn't have enough people in the audience when it came time to film. So, Elvis' manager went over to that Bob's Big Boy and asked the people there "who wants to go to a free concert?". He didn't mention whose concert it was. He got enough volunteers from the Bob's Big Boy diners to fill in the crowd.

If you had come to Whittier, where I live, which is about 15 miles southeast of LA and not too far from Downey, you could have seen the high school that was the location used for filming in Back To The Future, the houses on the street where the trick or treat scene was filmed for Hocus Pocus and the Uptown area where scenes were filmed for Masters of the Universe and Father of the Bride. A lot of other film locations have been used in Whittier, but those are the ones I know for sure.

@@msvdronetube I certainly do remember them filming. Specially Back To The Future II. It was the scene where Marty was in Biff’s future and Mr. Strickland runs him off his porch with a shotgun. My brother and mother were driving up Pickering at the intersection of Bailey. At the end of Bailey is the Whittier High School auditorium and you see it as the camera pans up, as Marty is running away. The Strickland house is also at the end of the street, on the right hand side. We saw all the lights up. I didn’t realize what movie they were filming until I saw it a year later and it clicked in my brain that we had driven by. Most recently Spielberg’s film The Fabelmans had a scene shot in Uptown Whittier. I also lived in South Pasadena back in the day, where the famous Michael Myers house is located. Teen Wolf also had some scenes filmed there. I’ll watch more of your channel.🕺😎

Due to privacy reasons of people in residential areas many KZbinrs don't share the addresses of places they visit because that keeps people from showing up at the locations and breaking in and stealing stuff from the properties to make money from the stolen stuff , many houses in movies are occupied and are private in neighborhoods that are a bit wealthy.

The Planet of the Apes Statue of Liberty scene isn't at the exact same spot as the Austin Powers scene, to get to the Planet of the Apes spot you have to go through a path between the rocks to a smaller similar looking stretch of beach. Notice the cliffsides are different as are the rocks in the water, in the Apes scene there's a small low cluster of rocks on the shore and a single rock about 25 feet out, in the Austin Powers scene the shore cluster has two huge boulders and there's a string of about 6 rocks going out about 30 feet. The spreading of Donny's ashes is on top of the rocks between the two stretches of beach, you can see both locations from up there.

I've lived in S Cal for >50 years so I can speak from a position of long experience... S Cal may have some filming locations but the joy or excitement of seeing them is FAR outweighed by the deprevity, homlessness, ridiculously expensive food and lodging, crime, etc. Venice beach? Don't go there at night. Hollywood and Vine? very dirty, very high traffic, lots of homeless/druggies definitely don't go there at night it is even worse. Disneyland - expect a family of 4 to pay >$1100 for entry, parking, and base level food for the day that does not include very expensive lodging in questionable areas nearby. The rides have gone downhill fast line have grown exponentially nothing like it was years ago. Not a fun choice there are far better ways to blow that kind of money Want to bop around Burbank? very high traffic, people are not nice at all Bottom line - stay away from the San Fernando Valley, downtown LA or anywhere near that, Venice Anaheim (Disneyland), Orange County for the most part. Parts of N Cal are still decent but most all of S. Cal is a disaster at best.
