One of the things I noticed about this season is that the Patoranters are not only the absolute first Sentai team to not feature a blue ranger but also that they’re the absolute first Trio Sentai to have the colour combination of Red, Green, and Pink, while the Lupinrangers just has the standard Trio Sentai colour combination of Red, Blue, and Yellow.

Really, the best thing I loved about this season was the fight choreography. This is seriously the best I've seen in a lot of tokusatsu, and certainly the best gun kata fighting! I love how they display their personalities through the fights, the flashy use of grabs and counters... If nothing else, I'd recommend this show just for the fights.

just finally caught up and binged the show during quarantine, really solid! i think it was way better than ryusoulger imo but it’s a biased because i’m always a sucker for dark and serious storylines, go busters shinkenger etc. this show had more comedy in it obviously but when it wanted to be serious it really sold well. great video man!

Finally, i found someone who shares my opinion. Go-busters and Shinkenger are my favorite too, the story are both great with good twists at the end, not just happy go lucky like most. And they both have amazing characters as well. Unfortunately, many complain they are too serious and dislike them. Like come one people!

Probably bc the Patrangers story line was predictable & therefore not as interesting. Like this is my favorite season, but I don’t understand why the Patrangers treated the Lupinrangers like villains when they were literally only stealing from the bad guys. Like how’re you gonna arrest a group of thief’s that help saved people & steal from the same monsters they destroy as well. Something ain’t adding up here lol. Still my favorite season though. I liked the idea of 2 teams fighting each other constantly.

I like to think the reason was because the lupin rangers are weaker then the patrangers because the patrangers are meant to destroy the ganglers while the lupinrangers are suppose to get the pieces out of the ganglers safe. So to balance the power they give the lupinrangers more power up to be on par with the patrangers

I LOVED this series. The suits, gimmick, mech's, characters, gangler designs, the lupin collection as easter eggs, the music and the fight choreography were freaking spectacular. Despite the number of plot holes, lack of zamigo, and Noel kinda stopping the show a bit, I will defend this season to the grave. #teamLupin

Given how the Lupin and Patren suits are inverses if each other, I figured that the members of both were not the first members of both teams. I figured that the Lupinrangers and Patrenrangers were part of the same team, but a dispute caused them to separate, leading to current teams.

I think the series went downhill ever since Noel's appearance. I expected him to give some reasons for the two teams to work together, being the double agent Ranger in this series. Too bad he was siding on the Lupinrangers more. Noel is like an example of a perfect written character on paper and the idea of being a double agent was brilliant but the execution just went flat. The toy's decisions are really hurting the series too. The episode where K-chan gave Kairi the TM Splash was heartwarming but my fear that the show didn't give some justice to the Patrangers had finally come true. Noel's complete oblivious toward the Patrangers didn't help. I mean couldn't he just trust K-chan and the others more. He could just give them some terms to help him retrieving the Collection while also giving more Intel to them by giving some Dial Fighters. I bet the relationship between Noel and the Patrangers will be a lot better this way. I also don't like they introduce Lupin Magnum and pushing Siren and Victory Striker's debut. Because of this, the Super Forms appeared like 10 episodes before the finale. Because of this, the major villain remained too long to get extinguished. Even Zyuoh Whale and ShiShi Red Orion appeared in late 20s episode. They could just replace Magnum with Jackie so we could have both teams' Mecha standing side-by-side or battling each other. Overall, Lupin VS Pat is a pretty enjoyable series with a great idea on paper. However, due to long status quo from the writer and the weird decision of the toys, the show was hurt a lot. It by no means terrible but LvP really needs a great responsibility to back up the brilliant idea here and there.

Fantastic summary of points I always wanted to read from another perspective. Personally, I thought the series went downhill the moment they went back from status gold chests to normal silver ones. It felt like the stakes of the show had risen only to drop back to the mundane for no reason and I never really took any villain seriously past that. 35 episodes later of the same level of enemy and I was sort of just tired treading water. I was hoping Tsukasa would have cemented her identification of the Lupins true identity and slowly have to work with Touma (who didn't have much else to do this season) to work on a "true big bad of the season," Kage--who would be the real Aresine Lupin in disguise.

I think one early rumor for the show was that both teams were going to be the same people, just different universes or using a Ranger identity based on the situation. But yeah, I do kind of feel that, alongside having it so both Lupins and Pats would claim the Lupin Collection, using them in battle when needed (Lupins would be more open to using them whereas the Pats try to avoid it because it's still evidence), a third team appears, with their theme being pirates and their VS Machines being sea vesicles, like a galleon, a submarine, and a tugboat, since Lupins have air-based vehicles in planes/jets, the Pats have land-based vehicles in cars, and X has trains, so it only makes sense that the sea is represented with pirates. The pirates throw a wrench in the works as they simply want the Lupin Collection for themselves, so the show becomes a 4-group battle of phantom thieves, police officers, pirates, and the Gangler.

@@thomasjujube Pardon the extra fanfic-ing after not replying some time, but with my take on the pirates is that they'd be called Sailor Sentai Kaizokuger, the line up being a crimson female (Kaizoku Kurenai, galleon), a male violet (Kaizoku Murasaki, submarine), and a male orange (Kaizoku Orenji, tugboat), their take on the Lupin's dial on their Wheel Searunners (their Dial Fighters/Trigger Machines) is the steering wheel from old ships, but because of their nature, Goodie refuses to work with them except their first mecha battle where they manage to form KaizokuKaiser. But to get around that issue, they get CruiseStriker, based on a cruise liner ship, which allows them form KaizokuKing, as for if they can form a super mecha thing with the Lupins and Pats, I don't know, and even then, it'd probably require having it so CruiseStriker helps them to combine with the mess that is VSX GoodCoolEmperor VSX (hope that's right), same for if Noel would get to become (the bronze) Kaizoku X, since he'd probably need a whole new changer or an add-on for the VS Changer to allow it. And with Kaizoku Kurenai's mecha forming a head like her Lupin and Pat counterparts, there could be battles where the combined forces of the Lupins, Pats, and Kaizoku allow for a RedKaiser (Red Dial Fighter and Trigger Machine 1 as make-shift arms with Galleon Wheel Searunner as the head) or GirlKaiser (Galleon as the head again, but with the Yellow Dial Fighter and Trigger Machine 3 as their respective arms).

I definitely enjoyed this series despite its faults, Noel was always an odd character for me. It's just weird how he always manage to stay with the Patorangers with suspicion that only lasted for a few episodes and that no one tried to get information of the Lupinrangers from him after his first appearance. The reveal of Lupinranger's identities to the Patorangers could've been done better as well. But overall, it's an underrated season that deserves more love. I also personally enjoyed Umiko's relationship with Sakuya and Tsukasa, they make great comic relief. The mechs look pretty good as well.

I could easily see this season of super sentai being adapted as a Power Rangers and transformers crossover, with the auto bots being the pet rangers and Deceptacons being the lupins. At least their vehicle mods being each team’s respective gimmicks.

Cuz i can see that they are a more competent team from the start and there were times the Patrens aren't a well oiled machine. But later their teamwork improved by going to PatrenUgou form everytime. Also i fell for Umika's personality, character and easy going nature. I really like the idea how you actually create two segment where there is actually a team in each season...that could've been more interesting....What I think this show majority is pretty okay..though I really wish the show could've make the two teams in their own season because that would've give enough focus for both teams simultaneously..(I was disappointed that they didn't have a detective like ranger in the show who could track the lupinranger down like detective conan and kaitou kid but I guess that's just me..) Also about the ryusoulger...kinda disappointing to me..when the first announcement came out,I thought that it was a show about knights using the lost souls of legendary dragons but I guess that I was wrong on my part due to the "ryu" part.Though I genuinely hoped that the ryusoulger manage to impress me in their concept...

I had fun watching Lupin vs Pato but I felt like the Lupins reveling their identity was just to random, like: Antagonist: hey it's almost the end of the series why don't you revel yourself Lupins: ok The fillers imo were annoying. Here's some idea's I thought of, have the Lupins get reveled like 3/5 or 3/4 of the way through, not make the pato's comic relief, have the lupin's loved one come back after the lupin's identity was reveleed

I honestly think one big fix would have helped pretty much fix everything in Lupinranger vs Patoranger. And that's have a Midseason Turning Point. Some event in the Middle of the season, like Episode 30 or so that takes out a villain, lets there be a big climax to end the first arc so that they can build up to the endgame with a fresh storyline. As they had it, and as you pointed out, the Status Quot didn't change for the entire season. I get that the key focus of the season was the conflict between the ranger teams, but it still suffered from a solid antagonistic force since pretty much all the villains did was sit around and talk, and as much as it felt like Zamigo was important.... he went what felt like months at a time not even being seen or relevant. He could have been a much better villain if he actually did something other than appear and be shady once every dozen episodes. I'm also surprised they let Dogranio be the final boss too given how flat he was. I thought for sure Zamigo would betray him since he at least had an emotional connection to the teams. There was something at stake fighting for him. I think for Dogranio.... He only encountered the Patorangers once before the Endgame, and never met the Lupinrangers. He was just very disconnected from everything.

I really like this season due to how character driven the show got. I could say 1 million things about each character and why they rock, but ill keep it to one thing. The relationship between Patrou #1 and LupinRed is one of the most heartbreaking things i've seen from a sentai in a while. Kairi and Keiichiro's relationship over the course of show is a rollercoaster. Kairi puts up a facade and a fake smile when in his Jurar persona, but at times Kairi is at odds with himself, knowing that Keiichiro is his enemy but still just an honest police officer wanting whats best for the people, just like his brother. And it's because Keiichiro's likeness to Kairi's brother that Kairi directs his rage and anger at Keiichiro. The scene where Kairi comes face to face with Keiichiro after his identity as LupinRed is revealed is heartbreaking. Kairi blows up in Keiichiro's face, begging for Patou 1 to get angry and disappointed in him. Instead Keiichiro is angry in himself for not being able to help this kid before he had to become a thief, a criminal. Kairi wants Keiichiro to scold him, to punish him. Kairi wants "his brother" to scold him. Kairi feels like he deserves it, because he blames himself for why his brother disappeared. I thought i wasn't going to enjoy this series, but here i am commenting 2 huge paragraphs about this banger of a show. Adeiu.

Im currently watching lupin vs pato, right now at episode 28. Right before noel first appearance i feel really excited for the next episode, but after noel appears i dont feel the same again. Noel is too siding with Lupin, making this series feel unfair. In my opinion, without Noel, this series would have been perfect

@@1hardyparty Because Lupat was meant to be a remake of Jetman originally until Saban sold the Power rangers rights to Hasbro and the toy rights went to Hasbro as well. The show was rebuilt from the ground up into LuPat and the only thing that remains of the original concept are the Dial fighters.

This season always intrigued me. I don’t watch super sentai often or at all as I’ve only ever seen Gokaiger and had a really good time watching it but just don’t know which seasons are good or not but this season has so many interesting ideas like the dual teams as well as the sixth auxiliary ranger being two diffferent rangers. I’d really like power rangers to adapt this to see what they do and how they pass of thieves as heroes to the western audience

I kind of liked the quoteevery new episode introduce a new combination“ status quo they were going for until the Lupin/Patren X stuff, where they dedicated about 3 episodes for showing off his gear. After that, they returned to the “every other episode introduce a new combination” thing. I haven’t gotten to the end of the show, where the victory striker and siren striker are introduced. It’s weird that the lupines get the last laugh in both the show, and the toy line. but, at least the Patrangers get an ending.

I thought this season was amazing compared to the pre-Zyuranger seasons I watched and the first three seasons since Zyuranger I watched and still watching. There were a few very disappointing moments in Lupin vs Pat IMO, but every episode entertained me thoroughly except for the dancing episode [I think it's Episode 27]; that was the only episode I didn't like. I'll give the season a 9 out of 10 to 9.5 out of 10 at most.

The cinematography of the Lupinranger fights made me gush when i first saw it. The way the camera swoops in and around the fight was super dynamic and awesome to watch. I wish they did more with the parkour and movement angle they used every so often (with Noel and some Lupin scenes) 6:45 I never like to say someone is wrong but man u are misrepresenting my peeps here. These guys aren't actual thieves. They are recruited by the Lupin Family to get back the "Lupin Collection". They were an athlete, a chef, and a high schooler. They only had one goal, "get back the people who were lost". They only steal "the collection" and the Patorangers want to arrest them because in doing so, they destroy public property and their ideology of justice.

I mean, they have the main three colors; red, blue & yellow, as opposed to the patarangers who have red, green & pink, and ranger-x is kind of like a vigilante, who represents both sides. Well since their whole theme is about thieves, it would make since if they stole a few things from actual people. And if it was collection pieces that they stole, then that would make even more sense for their characters. They don't need to be evil, they're doing what they must. Just for it to make a little more sense why the Patorangers always wanted to arrest them.

Exactly. The lupins are not criminals, they fought and stole from the gangler who were the real threat. If anything, they were getting back pieces which the gangler stole from them. The lupins were actually Vigilantes then the thieving criminals the Patos said they were.

The reason why the Lupins never stole is because of the terms of contract. Kogure blackmailed the Lupins into becoming thieves essentially and told them. Steal the collection and kill the Ganglers. That's it. The only reason why the GSPO was going after them was likely due to collateral damage in the fights, vigilante actions (which wouldn't stick in a Japanese court since it would mean arresting every other sentai, Kamen Rider, and Metal hero) because Keichiro is an overzealous idiot, and because the GSPO was publicly humiliated by the Lupinrangers success. As they essentially succeeded where the police failed. And obviously the higher ups would falsify charges against the Lupins in the hopes of getting rid of them and stealing their tech. After all the GSPO is based in France and as Noel shows the police in France has a reputation for corruption which is basically how Noel gets away with his double agent son of Arsene Lupin crap. You should have paid attention to the filler because this is all explained in the show. And phantom thieves do not pickpocket it is beneath them. Go watch Lupin the third, play Sly Cooper, or watch Carmen Sandiego so you can learn about phantom thieves.

@@thomasjujube The Lupinrangers were based on the Phantom Thief subgenre which is big in Japan. Which is why they don't steal from regular humans. So the story was never about cops v. Robbers. And the Patrangers were more like secondary main characters rather than actual main main characters, hence their second billing.

I love Lupinranger VS Patranger. I love everything about it, even it's flaws. (then again I spent about 2 weeks watching the entire season) Even Noel! I didn't like him at first but he grew on me as a character. I would have love more character development for.... well, everyone to be honest. No one really got a lot of development outside of Kairi and Keiichiro. Also there is one thing that I have been wondering about..... the Lupin collection is own by Arsene Lupin, Kogure basically works directly for Arsene Lupin and Noel is basically Arsene Lupin's adopted son (so legally speaking ownership of the lupin collection would have been transferred to him) and the Lupinranger's are basically working for these two. MEANING that the Lupinrangers are working to return the collection to THE ORIGINAL OWNER, so what they are doing is not actually illegal and the Patorangers really have no reason to arrest them..... LOL

It's funny, but the reasons you give for not liking the season as much as you wanted are exactly WHY I think it's one of the best seasons :). I'll try to explain. After watching it four times, I can't find any real filler, apart from the zany cross dressing episode. The main reason is that, for me, contrary to direct predecessor Kyuranger, LuPat isn't a show focused on its story, but on its characters, and when you look at it that way, it makes much more sense. For starters, the contrast between the two teams. The Lupinrangers start of as being already well established in their abilities. They've been doing this for a while, and they're clearly superior to the Patrangers. They have already established their style, their flair, their characteristics. The Patrangers, on the other hand, is your typical newbie team, who has to learn to grow as people, to become bona fide Sentai. From the beginning of the season until the end, we see them, especially Keiichiro/Patren 1go, grow from black and white insanity to all loving hero, even willing to throw his career as a police officer to help Kairi. So, while we follow the Lupinrangers as an already well-oiled machine of professionals, we follow the Patrangers as they get more familiar with their role as a Sentai team, and all that implies. With that logic in mind, it's pretty obvious that each episode focus more on them interacting with each other, than anything else. The villains aren't very important, they're just an excuse. What's important is that a team (the Patrangers) only see another team (the Lupinrangers) as criminals, in, again, a kind of black and white insanity, and have to learn to see beneath the surface. As such, they (conveniently, I'll admit) become friends with the Jurer trio, without knowing who they really are, and the entire show is them growing closer and closer, to the point where Keiichiro's reaction to finding who the Lupinrangers are and why they became phantom thieves is all the more credible and realistic. I do not think that just having a couple of episodes showing a little evolution in their relationships would have had the same effect. Of course, outside of that, the story doesn't seem to progress, and I understand the argument when used against the show. I just think that if you watch it while keeping in mind that the show is almost solely about its characters and their relationships, and NOT about a century old feud between the Lupinrangers and the Ganglers, the show becomes much better. :)

I adore it. The flair, the style, the opposition between a well-oiled, heisei style team (with all the power ups) and the newbie showa-style team (with very few power ups, but with their guts and courage to more than make up for it), the relationships between the character, the fact that you see all of them grow as people, one accepting his feelings of inferiority and running with it, the other accepting that the world isn't black and white, etc... Sure, it lacks the spectacle and the commitment to an ever evolving story that Kyuranger could have, and it feels far more intimate, but that's what I love about it. I was able to connect with all characters because they were given ample characterization, as opposed to, again, Kyuranger, which has a few of its characters completely sidelined.

Honestly don't think Toei would've gone for the Lupinrangers stealing from regular people, they're still meant to be heroes afterall. But what they should have done is kept the Patos in the dark about the ganglar's human disguises for a chunk of the season so they would think that the thieves were stealing from citizens.

Despite uneven team focusing issue, LuPat is the best modern Sentai season. This is relatively more character driven season that focused in reliatinships between two opposite teams, their stories and character development rather than main plot. Despite Lupinrangers are kind of main team of that season and all got entire focus and power ups, Patrangers are always been more sympatetic and solid team. I really liked how Keichiro and Sakuya's story goes on. On the other hand, the episodes focusing on Touma were also very solid and enjoyable to watch. While I particularly like these three characters, I think they are the best red, green and blue rangers of the modern seasons. However, I didn't like Noel at all because he abused his co-workers by trying to woo thieves even though he was actually a cop. (Jeremy from King Ohger is way better counterpart of him) Thieves' butler is also complete nonsense that added nothing to story other than use thieves for his own benefit. Also, this season's fight sequences are pretty good, but mecha fights were generally mediocre, with Lupinrangers probably making 2/3 of this season's mecha fights.

I enjoyed watching Lupat, just watching and looking into the dynamics between the characters and between the two teams. i dont get the criticism of the show being filler, i never felt any episodes being filler besides the recap episode but even that had plot development in it. this season is top 5 for me

the most miss opportunity in these series is the function of lupin collections. They can make it as a reason for all of sentai universe combine, or at least the reason for mini series "Super Sentai Saikyou Battle" occur..obviously those Lupin Collections resemble past sentai season so it should be do something with it..

I do agree that the Lupins did need to steal more stuff episode 1 style which had the interesting concept of Ganglers ingrained into human high society that the show never fully capitalized on. The show broke the mold with its concept and having a foreign born actor in the main cast. Lupin v Pat had some of the best character chemistry as of late but some like Noel and Zamigo should have been better than they were.

Before Lupin Vs. Pato came out my hype was at an all-time high. I had just caught up with Kyuranger and absolutely loved it, and it was the first season I had watched to completion since ToQger. When the scans came out I LOVED the suit designs and the first episode was absolutely stellar. It really saddens me how disappointing the show ended up being for me. I just wasn't willing to watch so much character focus filler when they had so much story potential. As much as I loved the Lupinrangers (I always preferred them over the Patrangers), it was disappointing that (at least for the first third of the season) there was little balance and the Patrangers got way less focus. I stopped watching a little while after Noel's introduction, and when I skipped to the finale, it didn't seem like I missed out on a whole lot of plot.

Also I think they could have gone further with adding a fourth member on each side by adding a patranger canine and lupinranger neko.

LupVsPat is both hit and miss for me. The concept was over the top in a good way. The cast was perfect and all of their interactions throughout the show was so good. However the plot never got deeper, more serious, more mysterious and it's missing the plot progression or heck even plot twists. Also, very few people notice this but the first sentai season to have two seperated teams is Hurricaneger which has a minor team Gouraiger in it.

I thought this season was decent. 3.5/5. My only gripes would be Umika. Just everything about here irritated me to no end. And the ganglers. I started to feel like we were seeing too much of the ganglers. They were just the plot device to get the two teams at each other's throats. Zamigo was awesome. I watched this on Kissasian and in the comment section people were getting furious about how little we saw off him. My favourite character was Sakuya. His focus episode were good when they didn't have anything to do with Umika.

My problems with this season: Too much focus on the Lupinranger, the Patrangers reasons to fight the thieves was really poor, the Lupins were obviously only fighting dangerous monsters, the show made it look like Patren1 was just jealous of them. Also, why Patren1 just let LupinRed keep the Splash machine? Trigger Machines are Patranger's gimmick! Noel, he was a good character at the beggining, trying to have both teams work together but he sided more with the Lupins because Noel was a thief himself, that destroyed Noel for me because he was supposed to be on both sides, not side with one and ditch the other. The toys, thanks to Lupin Magnun, Victory fighter and Siren machines were pushed to near the end of the series. Going back to my first point, if Bandai wanted to focus more on Lupinrangers, then make the season about them, remove the Patrangers, make it only "Kaito Sentai Lupinrager" or make the Patrangers villains, corrupt cops if you get what i am saying.

LVP is a season I have an unfortunate distaste for, as it's only one of two seasons of Sentai I flat out dropped. When it started, I really wanted to like it, and did for a while. Things were a but odd to start but I did get more invested when Lupin/Patren X showed up. However, for a while I fell behind on episodes, and during that time, I learned some very upsetting information, that being that after a certain point the Lupinrangers were literally getting all the new vehicles and power-ups, even the ones EXPLICITLY intended for the Patrangers. Because of that, I stopped watching on the principle that I refused to support a series that set up two equal but opposite teams, and then give much more and make one team uneven by giving them powers they weren't meant to have. And so, I didn't finish watching it, and never will

patren 1gou’s character arc really develops throughout the season! as i watched it though when it released, the focus was mainly on the lupins but since there are character focused episodes dedicated to each specific ranger and especially mainly towards the end, i’d say that the show did give him justice i never really liked patren 1gou at first, but he turned out to be one of the best characters imo hopefully if you watch it, you can enjoy it!
