That Vignetter with the sawtooth edges looks amazing. I do not see any among google search results. Guess that would need to be a 3-d printed device. Seems so simple (and effective) of a design, though.

Great demonstration again! A suggestion: I have been following Barnbaum`s advice: Get a square Oliver of cartboard, upper side white to see the projected image, lower half black to cut down on reflection. Then cut a window in the lower right about 1/4 of the full piece of cardboard. Get ANOTHER piece of cardboard, same size in an L-shape under it. With both pieces one easily can form shapes. I have used a thick black marker to point out the window with arrows, so the window can more easy be seen. Pertrsonally I use terms like 1/4 or 2/4 of a stop instead of percentages to use for f-stop printing, find that much easier to control (though I have a RH design f-stoptimer which really makes things nice and easy). Thanks for the in-depth demonstrations! Cheers Rolf

Would it be possible to use a graduated ND square filter to get a graduated exposure when enlarging? Or Maybe solid ND with a cutable shape to only affect prescribed areas of the photo?

I'm thinking I could tape a multigrade over the hole filter to burn in local contrast. Yes?

Sure can

I love your channel. You're my got to reference in darkroom information. Would it be better to use stops vs. secs and percentages? Say if the base exposure is 20s and you want to dodge a portion for 1/2 stop then dodge it by 5s?

Some people like stops some people don’t.

If you change grade from say 2 to 4 then 5 seconds (or half a stop) wouldn't work, if you look at the characteristic curves of Multigrade paper the Log Relative Exposure changes the density of the paper differently so half a stop with one grade wouldn't give the same density change (tonal change) for grade 4.
