Nice to see you exercising your teaching skills, Heidi. I have always said that no really good teachers, have ever been taught those skills. They are born into us. Some can do it, others cannot. Sadly many of the lesser teachers, struggle through, and leave their students lacking the knowledge they needed so badly. Your boat now seems to be in fine fettle, no problems with the gearbox, and the sound of that engine gets better every week!! I love to hear it shutting down too, as it slowly ticks to a halt....then that silence, that is music!. Ditty was just perfect. Have you ever watched how Bonny will check both sides of the boat when you under bridges as if she's checking for clearance, and she is defiantly supervising when you moor up, watching how close you are to the banking. Gabby's a good Yorkshire woman like myself she seems to live a blessed life -subtitles LOL. Wild Atlantic way is nice but there are many nice places in Ireland; well the damn countries covered in snow and ice and freezing cold now but summer and autumn can be magic.

So pleased to see you are safe and nowhere near the Bridgewater breach. You know there is far more to doing locks, like where the bywash is, or which side paddle to open first as under currents can push the boat the other way. I have done 1,000s over man years. Great tip on the safety latch when winding the windless, i did 49 locks 1st time last year and i have to say the windless slipped many times and one time it hit my shin so hard i still have a blood bruise ! Ouch !
