I am a disabled veteran and had 150k in damage from hurricane Ian. Insurance fraudulently reduced my damages to 100 dollars less than my deducted so they didn’t have to give me a dime. FEMA only gave us 750 that didn’t even cover a hotel during evacuation. There was no further help from them. I tried to get a FEMA loan to help with damages and I was denied. They said my income was too low to cover the repayment. I tried adding a cosignor but they would not reprocess the loan application or anything to help us. FEMA is a joke. You can not count on them except to frustrate you.

In particular, the allegation that food and supply donations are being taken and not distributed due to items not being on the Preferred Vendor's list. This list is solely for FEMA to be able to purchase goods at value-priced negotiated rates to save the government money, and should have ZERO impact on donations except may be for cash, which can then be used to purchase goods for relief efforts at cheaper rates than the donors would have access to. If the Preferred Vendor List is being used to target donations and take them away from the victims that they are intended for (whether to be tossed or sold), this is not right and should be reported and the people responsible audited to see if there is some profiteering going on. It would be very good to either clear FEME's reputation, or hold them accountable.
