The Nellis Spotter

The Nellis Spotter

Күн бұрын

Thanks to a good friend, I got the opportunity to hop inside a Union Pacific locomotive type, C45ACCTE. The train went north along side the I-15 for the most part and continued north for 50 miles. The locomotive I was in was released in service in August 2011, it is a much newer one and apparently according to the crew inside, a much quieter one also.
For anyone who has any further issues with me posting this video, please know that I was invited to specifically film from the inside. Please note, I was invited to film inside and given full permission to upload this footage. The only thing I was asked NOT to do while in there, was not to film the control panels, which I did not see a reason to and clearly did not do.
Follow me on nellisspotters
And on instagram @nellis_spotter
If you enjoyed the video, give the video a thumbs up and click subscribe! Make sure to also hit the bell to get notifications on the latest videos! Share the channel and videos as much as you would like, I only ask that you do not re-upload them as your own content.

This is an absolutely cool video. This was the career that I wished I had pursued when I was a kid. I think it was just a childhood dream however. I would love to be allowed to just sit in the cab one of those locomotives to see what it is like. I wouldn't care what railroad it is that would let me do that. Just as long as I could do it. Just once.

Pretty humorous. It's a private train on UP, they can invite anyone they want into the cab. Since it is an Operation Lifesaver Corporate Passenger Train based on the verbage in the cab the whole goal in operating the train in the first place is public awareness of the program. The only item that might have been legally questionable is allowing the passenger at the controls and he is a jump seat in back. It's perfectly fine and isn't breaking any rules or laws. They probably wanted you to film to capture anyone going around the gates or other near misses to post on KZbin like you did here.

I love trains for many reasons. On a per ton of cargo transported, they are highly efficient and cheap compared to other land based methods. I also love diesel engines for which I believe all trains that carry cargo now have (correct me if I'm wrong). I also love the sounds of a train. I would love to go for a ride in one but have no idea how to go about it.

I live about 3 miles from the Roseville marshaling yard in Citrus heights C,A and I get all the sounds. If the breeze blows in the right direction, they sound like their opperating 3 blocks from my house. We got snow throwers that head up to Truckee when conditions call for em. the only people allowed on the cab is the crew or other crew members who are off duty and engine pulling to another location unless your invited which in that case the crew takes a risk because if you get injured its there asses. So its not illegal to be on rail property if given permission

I agree with you. I don't know what this guys malfunction is, but the FRA clearly states what the "Crew" can and cannot do while performing their duties of operating a train. Nowhere does it state that someone else (a Non member of the crew) cannot film while the train is moving. There are too many people jumping through their asses trying to make a big deal out of nothing. You did nothing wrong.

was that the horn of the train actually sounded like from inside the cab, if so, really was expecting it to sound a heck of a lot louder than that......and I have always wondered what the difference is when the conductor is supposed to sound the horn and when the ring the bell, all that I know so far is that he is supposed to sound the horn before he comes to any railroad crossing.......
@EdmontonRails
@EdmontonRails 9 жыл бұрын
Andrew Silva theres not so bright people that complain about how loud the horn is and the railroad is forced to make some places on horn zones, also on the ES44AC to increase crew comfort 4 out of the 5 horns face backwards, but it still meets decibel level requirements at crossings (thats one of the things I dont like about GE)

That FRA rule pertains to the operators of the train. As long as they're doing what they are paid to do, why would a person, not a train crew member, not be allowed to film? Because a Engineer in So. Cal was texting while operating solo and plows headon into a Union Pacific freight, no one is allowed to film a train in motion from the cab? I'll check with the FRA on this and get back to you.
