Outside of a perfect prime can't you normally move one chip for each die roll ie a roll of 2 and 3 move one chip 5 spaces?
@MrIPhonemaniac14 жыл бұрын
what if u rolled a 5 and a 2 thats 7 won't that get u out? i thought u can combine them

1:06 So If white rolls 2 and 4 for example. Is he still allowed to move his checkers in his own homeboard? 🤔
@AndalusianIrish5 ай бұрын
What's the best strategy for the point where you start with just 2 checkers? Do you want to get them round to your home ASAP or leave them as long as possible to block your opponent?
@emmanuelhatzis94604 жыл бұрын
I have a question: Take the video at 2:10 for the white checker set up. If the white checker player rolls a 5 or 6, can they strategically "bear off" the checkers on point 4, so they can maintain their "prime" for at least another round?
@tomy69174 жыл бұрын
No, you cannot bear off until all of your checkers are inside your home table. At 2:10 there is still a white checker inside of brown's home & would have to leave there by moving with the 6 first. If all of your white checkers were inside your home at 2:10 and you rolled a 5 - 6 you are not permitted to move the checkers from the 4 point since there are checkers on higher points still (the 5 & 6 points). If there were no checkers on the 5 & 6 points & you rolled a 5 - 6 on your dice, you are permitted to remove 2 checkers from the 4 point.

But eventually you still want to get out of your opponent's home board right? Because you can't start bearing off your pieces until they're all in your home board right?
@Kosake8214 жыл бұрын
@MrIPhonemaniac Yes the sum of the two is 7, but they're still two separate moves. You have to check for every move wether you end on a field with at least two checkers of the opponent or not. If any of your moves end on two opposing checkers you can't move that checker whit two combined moves.
@noreensullivan58555 жыл бұрын
I know this is an 8 year old post, but thanks for clarifying why the sum of roll would not be allowed if the individual moves are not legal moves.

Question: 0:50 you said the 2 white checkers one position number 1 are locked, but can't they move for example if the dice give whatever combination of numbers that add up to a number greater than 6, say (4,3) or (6,2) or whatever, wouldn't the white checkers be able to move 1 piece by using both numbers on the dice together ????? Once again, sorry for my English, I hope you understand my question
@tomy69174 жыл бұрын
No, those 2 white checkers cannot move at all at the 0:50 time mark. The dice in Backgammon are to be treated as "individuals" and not as a sum of the diced added together. A 6, 2 roll is to be thought of as a "six & two" roll or as a "two & six" and not as an "8". You can use your dice in any order, but, as you count with them, the position cannot be blocked by your opponent. So, at the 0:50 time, for the 2 white checkers, brown has every "individual" number on your dice blocked & cannot be moved at all.
@master2340114 жыл бұрын
@MacintoshEnthusiast Not really, because double 4, 5 and 6 only makes you move 4, 5 and 6 points twice and not 8, 10 and 12 at once. Since you couldn't get to points 4, 5 and 6, you would still be locked.

@wywyman The faster one would crash. If you are talking about 2 perfect primes both in the home board, that actually isn't possible; just think about what it would be like 1 move before the 2 perfect primes.
@sangeetnagreh90253 жыл бұрын
do you have to play 2 separate moves ie dice rolls no 6 and 5. or can you combine it to 11. When can you combine the dice number and when not.
@Ghazala_1984 Жыл бұрын
Can't combine. Would be too easy 😉

Must the start checkers always be placed the exact same way at the start of a new game? And if not, must the checkers always be mirrored for both players?

What is fifth dice placed on your right side used for?
@tomy69174 жыл бұрын
It is called The Doubling Cube for raising the stakes of the game. If I "double you" by turning that cube to "2" it means who ever wins will win twice the amount the game is worth, or, you could lose twice as much of the game's win value. For a better understanding search Google about the Doubling Cube.

@thenewboston Cool... kinda like dividing by 0?
@MorgoSargas13 жыл бұрын
@wywyman That's pretty much impossible. If you think it is, then try to for a position that occured before universe collapsed.
@BTDiLmarinen11 жыл бұрын
I know it is 2 years late but here is the answer: You both roll and start breaking the perfect prime by moving chips closer to the starting position. This opens up space and at some point someone will be able to move his chip that was blocked by the perfect prime
@BaliLandandVilla12 жыл бұрын
one of them in the end will be forced to open one block because dice will not always come 6 .

It can't happen. If someone get's it first, they have advantage of the dice. Other words, they'll run away with game.
