Just started to regular nymph. If only I could afford to go get a whole new setup. Love the info and actually ran into a guy a couple weeks ago euro nymphing.

my friend I own several euro rods and I really like the maxcatch “in touch” 10 foot 2 weight. it’s $95 on their site. fast shipping from china. i’m not as hot on their reels however. but frankly for euro my reel is mostly just a line holder! (ymmv though)

also for line: I use the mono rig. I use cheap 10lb sufix neon fire. roughly a 25 foot section so that it’s completely out of the reel to prevent slipping through the reel, and then you can really only cast max 30 feet anyway. seems to be a good all around length

I have not tried nymphing yet, but one guy who was nypmhing said that when he started it he wished that someone would have said to keep line tight so you feel even smallest touches from fish.

Are you weakening the system by having tippet rings in the three fly set-up? Instead why not use dropper tags attached with a triple surgeons knot? Once the dropper tag gets too short you can add a new tag above the knots using 6" premade dropper tags. BTW Simon does a great job on this video. GREAT DELIVERY!

A fly rod is designed to cast a WEIGHTLESS fly on a weighted line. The weighted rigs the euro-nymphers throw could easily be cast out on an ultralight spinning outfit. Euro nymphing may be an effective way to catch more fish...but it isn't 'fly fishing'. It's also highly tedious. No thanks.
