Because “a stitch in time saves nine”. Further destabilisation in Haiti will affect Jamaica with refugees. It’s 110 miles away. 24 peace keepers is a small contingency, but if they do nothing and the mission fails, and a huge influx of Haitians enter the country, what then?

President Jovenel was killed because he was working on projects to make drastic changes that would have definitely helped the population, but he was assassinated by Colombian hired killers. Weapons are entering the country, and the Colombian president claimed that over 1 million bullets are misiing from his army, and he thinks they are in Haiti. Is this a concerted effort to turn Haiti into a new drug route to the US so DR can polish its image? BTW, the DR's president is of Lebanese ancestry.

Many countries have a similar history yet they are capable to build up their countries. Portugal and Spain were colonised by north african muslims for close to 800 years. Turks colonised parts of europe also. Ireland was colonised by the English for centuries. Singapore colonised by the English and is now one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Ghengis Khan burned down many european cities and many people died, some cities depopulated by 60%. All these people managed to fix their countries. I think it is useful to start working on your own problems instead of blaming others all the time.
