Hema Committee report out: WCC's Rima Kallingal and Bina Paul speak

After years of delay, the Kerala government on Monday, August 19 finally published the Justice Hema Committee report, which looked into the issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. The 235-page report has pointed out various issues ranging from unsafe film sets to lack of toilet facilities for women on film sets to the presence of ‘casting couch’, a euphemism for sexual harassment in the film industry.

I am a common girl from Kerala, no where related to the film industry but from the bottom of my heart, I am thankful for all the risks you guys took. The word thanks itself is a small word, amidst everythiing you guys have been put through. As a girl, when I look at the history, I am greateful that I am born in this era and women like you from the past have gained me this freedom. Thank you so much. I pray this kind of cleansing happens not just in the film industry but to all the existing social realms. WCC should initiate forming their own production houses that give priority to femaie artists and technicians. Possibly full female units. Can hire new comer male artists to fill the role of male caracters. In case require financial support, approach the common public for croud funding. I am sure common people will support you generously.

The biggest issue is why powerful people oppress the vulnerable? Is it some kind of human psyche? I mean this started with Dileep and Dileep admirably came from the bottom and made it to the top but when he was at the top he was not just either. Pritivi and Vineet you can say are nepo kids but it seems they have done way more for industry and people around them then Dileep, mani, or any so called came from the bottom.

Well I've some things which hasn't or not been noticed by many, though I'm not in favour of anyone involved in the case due to which the Justice Hema committee report has come out. 1) the incident involving the assault happened and the very next day the entire Malayalam movie artists held an open stage meeting at Cochin durbar hall grounds, where a former actress the only person in that meeting, openly made a claim that there's a conspiracy in this assault case. How did this lady knew there was a conspiracy much before the police have even started the investigation? 2) Why did the assault victim deny going for a medical report in the initial 48 hours of the incident ? 3) What made the culprit who's name syncs with a popular bike name scream in front of the media that he needs to talk to a MADAM who has more information related to this case but was denied in the early days of his arrest ? Who's the Madam here which the investigating people haven't revealed or taken it seriously. 4) There was media reports of a female high ranking officer who was bent upon wreaking some kind of vengeance on the actor involved and was taking the entire print and reel media news people for a ride while calculating the length and breadth of the land belonging to the actor in the full view of news media cameras and made a ultimate mockery of self as well as the state government. What was this officer's interest and her so called friendship with the actress mentioned in the point 1? 5) Doesn't the state government have any machinery and infrastructure to call in people for questioning or gathering evidences, where the actress mentioned in the point 1 was called in for a ROUTINE QUESTIONING at a resort near to guruvayur? Well yes women are exploited at various levels and places it's not just limited to film industry, so have to be voiced at every place. What should be done is what makes the perpetrators to feel that they can do anything and walk away with ease. This mindset should be checked and pondered
