Licensed Cosmetologist here. Just a pro tip: Next time, use 5 or 10 vol developer to mix with your toner. No need to go in with 30 vol with your toner since your cuticles were already wide open from the initial 40 vol + bleach. Toning with 5 or 10 vol should have your hair feeling less dry as you mentioned. You are gorgeous by the way!

Is it normal for my natural hair to itch a week later..I got my hair bleached and now it's itching so bad
@sandrenesimpson2 жыл бұрын
After s curling my hair when is it the right time to bleach it please
@BritanyMichelle2 жыл бұрын
@@ashleybbwqueen2937 just seeing your comment! An intensely itchy scalp after applying bleach is an indication that your scalp is extremely dry. Bleach is an incredibly strong chemical, and shouldn’t really be applied directly to the scalp; especially not for a lengthy amount of time. My best suggestion would be to nurse your scalp back to health by replenishing moisture/oil loss. Warm oil treatments (with natural jojoba oil), halting any direct heat usage (blow dryer), as well as halting any more chemical usage directly to the scalp for a while would be great to start. 💗
@BritanyMichelle2 жыл бұрын
@@sandrenesimpson I would highly recommend consulting a professional in person. There’s a lot, visually, to factor in; and bleaching on top of an existing chemical service is risky business.

Hi. Do I tone if I’m adding color?
@HairByAriiianna7 жыл бұрын
This is the first video I've seen of yours. I'm a professional stylist and you did an amazing job especially for your first time! The only thing I would advise you on for next time, toner is a simple term we use for Demi permanent color which really just means it deposits more than it lifts. You only need to use a 10 volume (20 at most) with toners instead of blasting open the cuticle even more with such a high developer especially after freshly bleaching. Also, you're spot on about the texture change esp for curly haired gals! Again, great job and keep up the awesome videos

Arianna P Yess. Glad I read your comment. Because thats a great blonde but Id want a #613 blonde so I would do what you suggested?
@HairByAriiianna7 жыл бұрын
CultureofDiamonds I'm unfamiliar with the color line you're talking about and every line has diff numbers/letters for tones. All I can say is it's risky to do at-home bleach and tones if you aren't a pro cause bleach can be unpredictable if inexperienced I can only advise to watch the lightener the WHOLE TIME! Don't put it on and do stuff around the house and forget about it. Check (every 10 minutes or so) to make sure it's lifting evenly. Wipe the bleach off a little piece and do an elasticity test (pull on it with a little tension to make sure it's still intact/doesn't feel mushy). As far as toning, I can't comment what toner to use cause everybody lifts diff. For ex. If she lifts to a pale yellow/white and uses a violet toner it will look awesome. But if you only lifted to orange and put a violet toner on it will look muddy and still very brassy. That's why we always wait until after rinsing to see what to tone with. Regardless preferably use only 10 vol dev. and constantly watch so you can rinse if it's taking quickly! Sorry this is long and good luck
@CultureofDiamonds7 жыл бұрын
Arianna P Ive actually watch plenty of other videos. I've seen alot of others say that often. Use a 10 vol. dev. 👍🏽

Yes hun you are still natural, I have my hair cut the same way. But I have it white/platinum blonde and I toned with the manic panic virgin snow. And after bleaching my hair now for a couple of months I know EXACTLY what you mean about your hair feeling dry. What I found to work for me is putting Jamaican black castor oil in my hair then the cantu leave in conditioner. It is the MOST moisturizing for our hair. And co washing every other day helps I also use the kera care line. You just have to get into the habit of treating your hair every day which realistically is a good thing lol now you will really know what works for your hair and what won't. Sorry for the long message lol

Same here. My blonde is a shade below platinum and stays extremely hydrated and moisturized.
@nekeavalentine87177 жыл бұрын
If it helps at all, to keep your hair hydrated the first step is to use developers that aren't as strong. Girl you're lucky to have hair using a 40 volume. Knock the 40 down to a 30 for bleaching and the 30 down to a 20 for your toner. My hair is not very porous, so it can take a lot and is hard to dye and these volumes work well and are as high as I'd EVER go. Once your hair started lifting, it wasn't necessary to leave the bleach longer. You don't have to leave it on per the instructions as that's just a guide, instead monitor your head and when it's lifted (which yours seem to lift pretty quickly) then rinse it out. This what caused your hair texture change. Same with the toner, I leave mine on for 15 minutes with 20 volume and I'm good. I just lift up the plastic to monitor it. Finally, it's misleading to say everyone's hair texture will change. Mine is still 100% the same - watchspring coils. Products should be more water-based now to infuse moisture vs. butters or oils since it's extremely dry. Your conditioner should be a VERY high quality one for blonde hair. I use Aveda Damage Remedy, it's not cheap but with our short do's, it should last you a good six months to a year. An excellent, hydrating leave-in - I use Kinky Curly Knot Today. I also set my hair at night using water so I'll spray it all over (work it into my hair sometimes combined with a little jamaican black castor oil) then tie it down damp. This is even more hydration over night.

Celeste Brown it's not simply color treated. It's bleached. Which is a much harsher process than just using a semipermanent color. Bleach, most of the time, will permanently loosen curl pattern and dry hair out...same as a texturizer. The intent may not have been to alter her curl pattern but regardless of intent the end result is still the same.

Girl, you're still natural. I believe that because coloring your hair raises the porosity of your hair, water is able to more easily penetrate the hair cuticles. With your virgin hair, more than likely your hair was low porosity, and it may not have had an adequate amount of water, because your hair was hydrophobic. Now that the porosity has been heightened, your hair may be accepting more water into the cortex of the hair, which may cause your hair to appear looser in texture. Really though, your hair is just moisturized. However, high porosity hair loses moisture almost as quickly as it obtains it, so that explains why your hair felt like hay once you were out of the shower. When I first went natural, my hair was a glorified cotton ball. Now, after almost two years of being natural, and after learning how to train my hair to accept moisture(with a hair steamer and a heating cap) my hair has definition it never had when i first went natural. I thought i had 4c hair when I first went natural. Now i know that I didn't, because my hair ranges from 3c-4b. So my hair was just lacking hydration.

I would say that you're still a natural, because your hair is not chemical relaxed or permed (perm as in curly). Your natural texture is still there. With that being said, the only reason that your curls have been altered is because you went in with a 40 volume developer. Your hair would have achieved the same results had you used a 20 or 30 volume developer with the bleach. I usually recommend 20 volume developer. The 20 volume would have taken more time or the entire 40 minutes with bleach and not altered your curl pattern. The 40 volume lifts very fast and is not recommended for on the scalp use and definitely not the entire 40 minutes. Once you saw your hair begin to lift with the 40 volume developer, you can go ahead and wash it out. But all in all, it turned out very pretty. Next time just use 20 volume developer or go to a professional so that your natural texture is not compromised.

+dd2shine99 Thank you!! 💕 I used raw shea butter and shea moisture and put a shower cap on and put a Durag over night. I'll be experimenting with other ways of keeping my hair moisturized while bleached, too! 😊

followed this video step by step and exact same results!!! no issues at all. only thing i did different was bleached with a 30 developer and let it sit for only 20 minutes. and i used a 20 developer with the toner. i know on the bleach package it says 40 minutes but i’m not comfortable leaving it on that long. still same results with 20 minutes.

I've been a licensed stylist for 20 yrs. The definition of natural hair is hair that has NEVER come into contact with any chemically based products that will alter the state if your hair in any way. (i.e color/texture) Fyi, when you are lightening your start at the ends of your hair strands. It takes that area longer to process. Your scalp will process faster because it's naturally warm. I hate to sound like a teacher but this will keep your hair healthy. When you are toning your hair ONLY use a 10 volume developer. You're only depositing the toner. Using anything higher than that is going to over process your hair. That's why her hair was super dry.

What does it feel like when you apply the bleach? Does it tingle or is it just smooth like adding regular conditioning?

Hello Your hair came out beautifully....I have a very dark hair and just love to color the tip but I'm scared to lose my hair....i mean breaking...any advice?

I'm late for this post.... Your hair is beautiful. It's crazy how some women think because their hair is " natural" it validates their " blackness " because it doesn't. It's another way for us to be divided who cares what people say. Natural or not, its gorgeous.

I would go in with an olaplex process to help restore the bonds from over processing.

I think you did an awesome job! You look beautiful. I feel that the natural texture & natural hair color is what makes you natural, and when you change what's natural, then its no longer natural. Yet I don't feel one is better than the other.

Love this color on you 😁 yeah I spoke with girl who had color and she said to combat dryness she deep conditions every 2 days! She said it's a must for colored hair. My hair is short now too so I just may give a go. No way I would do with Longer hair😑 Too too much maintenance. New sub though 😂

The shampoo and conditioner u used, does it work for any color-treated hair? Or specifically blonde? I'm trying to dye my hair lavender or periwinkle
