Mike Mo doesn't realize how much of an impact he left of the skateboarding world. He was basically THE MOST POPULAR skater in the early internet skating era. He was one of the first pro skaters to really adopt the internet as medium for skating along with the Berrics. The people who grew up skating during the 2010 era know what I'm talking about. I'll never forget the early Mike Mo 8=D vlog shenanigans, the day in the lifes, the trick tips, the BATBs, Fully Flared, the SkateLab clips, the 360 flip record, the texting record, etc...

And I'm so old that any session could be my very last. Lol

@WolfWould3 жыл бұрын
@@hitbox524 Yeah man my buddy kept hurting a certain knee so we realized he favored that side in his trick selection. He changed up a bit. Even trying switch stuff but like most of us starting from absolute scratch on switch lol So it's fun but also reinventing your muscle memory. Hell I never learned rock n rolls and one day I said fuck it I'm doing both. After many tries and bending down more like little kids do at first, I got both in one day. I was so happy 😁 I was more of a street stair ollie kinda guy now I'm just a skater who will skate anything that looks fun.

Mike Mo's part was monumental, you will always be skateboarding. I take a lot of comfort in Mike Mo's story because it is the unfortunate outcome for most skateboarders. We get old, we get folded and some last the test of time, but for most we have to take a backseat. It's truly a game of Russian Roulette with your body.

One of my most memorable moments was watching Fully Flared in my hometown skate shop, Crum & Smith; it’s been closed for like 14 years now or something. Mike Mo’s part after that insane intro inspired the fuck out of me; I became the “flat ground king” of the skatepark because I admired Mo so much, and perfected every trick I could do, especially after the first Battle at the Berrics. Who can skate the way they want? no one. that's not why a skateboarder skates though, that's the sad part. he worked his ass off forsure but his talent is beyond 99.9999% of people on a skateboard and still is. Skateboarding came naturally and was easy for him. I remember a clip of him having no idea when the last time he didn't land a kickflip was. for Mo it's the fact that his mind is still thinking of innovation...but his body isnt able to perform at that level anymore without it possibly causing more harm. So its not like he thinks there isnt much left to do...its that he wants to do more than just a simple kickflip 5050. he described it perfectly with the golf analogy.

Got his debut pizza & pancakes deck the week after. Now I'm 24, started surfing more than skating, and a bad case of scoliosis is keeping me out of the water for the foreseeable future. Can't really charge big barrels or anything anymore, only little waves. I was approaching my peak performance, and got shot down prematurely.
