one of my best skate memories was this dude. he stopped at the SMALLEST skateshop in connecticut called axis boardsports in brookfield. i was maybe 15 and he jumps out of a gold tahoe (this was during the chadilac muskalade era) boom box on his shoulder. rolls up nose slides the ledge. hits the quarter pipe rolls back and 3 flips the flat on a pyramid. like fresh out of the car late as heck in the tahoe for probably 10 hours to get to this spot which MAYBE had 10 of us there. this dude is a legend

Muskal was never an elitist skater. He was a skater for the people and thrived for the connections he would make all over the map. Big ups on this episode. The G.O.A.T.
@carolynberge29193 жыл бұрын
This episode epitomizes why I love The Nine Club. Muska starts out unsure and apologizing for telling his own story. Then you guys reassure him and keep reassuring him and he just relaxes and it all flows. He’s a classic ADHD person; I had no idea how intelligent and insightful he is. He’s obviously spent his entire career with people trying to force him into following their neurotypical Q&A patterns, which means he gets tense and sounds scattered and ditzy. You guys just let him be him and that was amazing. So much love for The Nine Club. Can’t wait for him to be back in 2029 ❤️😁

When does he say this
@carlkligerman19815 жыл бұрын
@@joeyquinlan2274 around half way through I think, i can't give you the exact time thing, I don't do that, but he said it, or words to that effect, and I thought that alone was awesome, but coming from one of the skaters who I always looked up to, was proper fuck off rad. I am an artist, who loves to skate, and much stronger as an artist than as a skater, but I feel the same way about art, ability is great and all but the love of it is the very essence of what it is, and why it's important to do it, and anybody who makes art has the right to call themselves an artist. In skating, as in the art world, there is a lot of elitist nonsense, and like Muska I think the vital thing is to participate, create and love it for its own sake. That is what I think 'core' is.

@@nuendo2020 just a fs flip that flips like a hardflip. Illusion flip is where it looks like a muska flip but the board never does a kickflip.

He is so chill and not self absorbed that he feels weird to talk about himself on a podcast ABOUT him...LOL

From being broke and homeless on the beach to being one of the elite skaters of the late 90s and early 2000s Chad Muska showed us that it doesn't matter what you have from the companies as long as you keep skating with your friends and live for your passion. Surfers say ride the wave but as a Skater myself I say "Live for Today" 💯

Roger is a true historian of skating. The amount of knowledge he has about skating past and current blows me away.

Chad is such a genuinely good guy. I used to hate on him growing up because I was all about the punk rock Baker anesthetic and didn't appreciate his urban style but I wish I could go back and get a pair of CM902s to support him. Sometimes you don't realize how good something is until it's gone.

Thank you guys! This episode alone was worth all the hard work you put into these shows! The skateboarding world owes you a lot for setting these historic / legendary moments into the "stone". I love it! And Mr. MUSKA! Don't let that bad back stop you! We love you

I'm from the UK and I was heavily involved in the UK skate scene during the early 90s until 2001. I've never had better people around me than the guys I had around me during those years, if somebody had something we all had something. If anyone had a need you knew that your friends would do whatever it took to help you out. That's skateboarding to me, it was a family. I see elements of all of my old friends in Chad, he's a real one.

Were you in any videos or magazines? Or were you just a guy who enjoyed skating as a past time?

@theangryitalian79225 жыл бұрын
Connor McKenna that’s a lot of skateboarding clout in one place. But on opposite ends of the spectrum. I think Muska really was concerned for Bam though. Despite their extreme differences.

I was hoping he would talk a little bit about TSA. I remember playing SKATE with Muska in the TSA parking lot in Costa Mesa…loved watching this! Super stoked to see how well he’s doing.

I remember when he would say that his vision wasn't the best and it gave him the ability to do what no one else was doing at the time, he said if he had better vision he probably wouldn't have been as good of a skater, wild!... freaking LEGEND. I had his board and the boombox haha
