Met Atiba backstage with Turnstile in Portland a few years back. Nobody backstage with me knew who he was, I approached him and told him how big of a fan I was, that growing up I had so many of his pics on my wall etc..he was the nicest guy, and we talked old school post hard-core ( quicksand, orange 9mm) and he was just the coolest. He even took a picture of me and my homie with Turnstile..so I'm lucky enough to say I got my Pic taken by Atiba!! Again nicest guy out there. So important for skateboarding past /present and future!

This brought back a lot of good memories. I wanted to be a professional photographer/filmer like Atiba when I was in high school. Had my all my gear stolen twice which pretty much crushed that dream. But before that happened I managed to get two of my photos in Thrasher’s Photograffiti and was beyond stoked to have something published in the same magazine with all these dudes I looked up to. 🙌🏽 Thank you Atiba and thank you skateboarding. Also, Chomp on This is one of my favorite skate videos and I still have it on VHS.

It's 6am here in the LBC... I'm watching this mini doc and realizing how influential Atiba was/is. I grew up on the east coast where the skate culture was a lot different, but I'd often see his pics not knowing who he was. In the late 90s I recall some of the dudes saying "Oh yeah, that's an Atiba flick." Of course, I'm all "What's Atiba? Is it a new board company?" HA! Well, this documentary is bringing things full circle for me. Oh... And the dude played "So What" by Miles Davis on the piano! Dope! Thanks VICE for making this!

I remember him and his brother and the Colorado Springs crew skaters would come and skate with the Denver crew skaters every weekend. Fun times. Jamaica Jims and all that. So awesome he made it so big in filming. I live in LA now as well and saw him crossing the street random in Hollywood one time and shouted his name. He waived his hand and was probably like who the heck is that and don't think he.even remembered me but that's ok. Shout out to him and his brother. They were always fun to skate with and super cool. Fun times and good memories. Colorado represent!

Wow, thanks, I like this! I remember early 2000 at a demo in Stockholm. I went there to see my favorite skaters PJ Ladd and Eric Koston but when I got there I saw that Atiba was there taking photos. Haha, I probably watched him photograph more than the skating. When I left I ended up next to Koston and Atiba who were on their way to the tour bus. Totally star struck, of course I didn't dare to talk to them, but I was insanely happy to have walked a couple of hundred meters next to them. 😀
