It depends on the health of the dog too. For example, my dog is an epileptic. So he goes to the vet every month, sometimes more. And he also sees a neurologist. But if you have a dog with no serious health issues, every 6 months should be fine.

I took my cat to the vet for the first time since I got him just before Christmas for a false emergency and it ended up costing me nearly $500 CAD, they did x-rays and bloodwork on him. crazy. California especially is quite expensive (I would say probably more expensive than Australia's major cities, Sydney / Melbourne), so I defintiely wouldnt call it insanely cheap there lmfao.
