One of the best ways to nod on how Flash ended in an entirely new timeline is in the subtle detail of how his and Batman's costume are different in the beginning of the movie and at the end when they are talking in the cave. This storyline is on it's own level of how pivotal it was for comic book history
@keithtomlinson413710 күн бұрын
The interesting thing is that Barry didn't fix things at the end. He just created another new timeline. One that's similar to the original, but not exact. That's why his suit is different at the end. In the comic's, this was the bridge between the old timeline and the New 52 timeline.
@Darkgod777Ай бұрын
This backstory to Flash is only as recent as 2009 when it was retconned after he was brought back to life. Prior to that he had a normal upbringing with his parents having only passed away after he did during Crisis on Infinite Earths. He was a forensics officer with the Police Force because he wanted to help people. The people responsible for the retcon seem to think that is not a good enough reason, so they had to give him the tragic "lost a parent" backstory for why he pursued forensics and then became a hero once he got his powers.

Barry is trying to find the real perpetrator in order to clear his father's name. 26:23 That would be the first Aqualad. 28:32 Yeah, Barry's origin is one in a million, he happened to be next to a shelf full of the right chemicals while at that moment was struck by lightning through a window. Going after a married person is crappy but not as bad as breaking your marriage vows.
@anarkizt12 күн бұрын
When it comes to cheating, the one in the relationship is most at fault. He was the one that made his marriage vows, he was the one that chose to betray that. He was the one that betrayed his wife. Sure Wonder Woman probably should've been like "wait aren't you married????" but from Aquaman's "I can't believe I ever loved you" comment makes me believe it was an affair, not just "damn she hot" and Mera caught him. In which case it is even more on him than her because that reads to me like "I'm gonna leaver her for you" and then he got caught and probably flipped to Mera, so Mera went to confront her and then it happened how we saw.
@jonjohns814512 күн бұрын
Funny thing is, for most of his publication since 1955, Flash's origin never really went past "Scientist douces with chemicals then struck by lightning". It wasn't until this story came out in 2009 in the comics that we got all this Nora Allan Murder, Barry's father jailed for it back story. All of this now is considered Cannon to the Flash's backstory and was used in both the CW show as well as the Movie.

About the "OG Flash Origin story", the answer is "Yes and No" The first Flash to be created was Jay Garrick, from Keystone city, who accidentally scienced himself into The Flash. With the Crisis on Infinite Earths events, the multiverse was rebooted. Then came Barry Allen, The Flash, the Fastest Man Alive, and First Speedster (of this multiverse). With Flashpoint happened a new Universe Reboot, the old Wally West (redhead) being "lost in the speedforce", and a new Wallace West (black) being the new OG Wally West. The Speedforce being a founding Force of the Omniverse (Multiverse of Multiverses), Jay, Wally, and many more speedsters, old and new, found their way back into the main continuity, making the question of "the OG Flash" kinda puzzling.
@ignisinfernal184312 күн бұрын
Barry Allen was created decades before Crisis actually. What happened is that DC in the mid-1950s wanted to shift to being a little more sci-fi focused, with a more consistent world with more consistent powersets and they started making new comics in a separate universe from the older ones (the older ones being Earth-2 and the new ones being Earth-1). Barry Allen was used to introduce Earth-1 and Jay Garrick was the Flash of Earth-2. They still used both for a while, but over time Earth-1 became far more prevalent and then after Crisis, New Earth was created, which mostly took inspiration from Earth-1.
@vanguarddude383312 күн бұрын
The laws of time travel has been explained in the dc universe many times in comics, tv shows, and other movies. It goes time is like pouring cement and takes time to set. You can change it back before it sets like what flash did and the time it takes to set comes in waves which is what was happening to the flash memories, but once it sets and you change time and change it back it’s never the same as it once was. Cause imagine if you break off cement from the ground but want to put the piece back the cracks will always be there no matter how hard you try to put things back. Which explains the rest of the movies
@nichescenes7 күн бұрын
But later on we learn timeline bouncing can also make new universe timelines. Multiverse. But yeah he did the reset in his own timeline. Crazy. My buddy hated this film but I thought it was peak. Reminds me how much opinions vary. At release this was considered the best 9/10 IMDb. Now it’s in 7/10. Maybe grifter bomb reviews cause live action. It’s why I don’t mind just watching films for myself and seeing if I like em cause people either miss plot point or watch films half on TikTok or don’t give em a chance etc. sure some are just not into em good faith. But my buddy not liking flashpoint amounted to them saying well it tried to be something. That’s what they said. As well as some adaptations have used it, the "dead mom story" is VERY MUCH NOT the "OG" Barry Allen/Flash story. It was added by Geoff Johns (who has done many great things in comics and some...not so great things in comics) in the 2000s to give Barry a cookie cutter tragic backstory because some writers simply can not get their heads around some one getting powers and using them to help people because they're well adjusted and just genuinely kind without a massive childhood trauma driving them. The opening in which the Justice League hyper-competently stop all of the bombs, making sure to save even the villains, is a nice contrast to the horrors of the altered timeline.

there is a heartbreaking scene in flashpoint batman in the showdown between thomas wayne and the joker (martha wayne) when he told her that their son can "revive" in the real universe Martha: tell me about bruce, what does he do, after we´re dead? Thomas: he... he follows in his father´s footsteps Martha: he is a doctor? Thomas: No Martha: oh god... then she tries to runaway , fall and die . her last words: "the world... it´s a baa......" :(

1:19:13 The crazy thing is that the guy doing the "dub" is the actual voice actor. He was in the recording booth and just said that shit.

The meme is transcendantal. Because reverse flash is that petty. He would do it. That s also why the jerk off case is like opening the floodgate of finding new petty stuff that rf would do.

I'm a little sad/disappointed they didn't see the scene where Barry gives Bruce the letter. Other than that, great reaction and commentary!

In case nobody has posted it yet, this is what Thomas’ letter to Bruce read in the comics: Dear son, There’s only one thing I know about life. I know some things happen by chance. And some things happen because we make them happen. Barry Allen was once haunted by the past. But when he became the Flash, he left the ghosts behind. He found love, a family. And for the first time ever…friends. Barry thought yesterday was behind him…but somebody wouldn’t let him escape it. When Barry came to me for help, I turned him away. I’m not the hero of this story. I’m a man who’s been corrupted by his own unbearable pain. I’m a man who has too much blood on his hands to be called good. Your friend taught me we can’t only live a life for those we’ve lost. We have to live a life for those we still have. If I got a second chance, I would hope I’d come to understand that. To live that…like you should, Bruce. That’s all parents want for their children. What we never had. Your mother and I want you to be happy. Promise me you’ll try. And I will too…wherever I am. Love always, your father - Thomas

The thing about the Flash and Batman is that their origin stories are very similar as well as their meathods. Like Batman, Flash tries to help his enemies instead of just beating them. Which is the reason why out of all the JL he is closest to the Flash but also at the same time envois of him because he is what Bruce wants to be: A symbol of hope, not fear.

39:15 definitely agree, even though it got worse over time it holds a special place in my heart and it’s what made The Flash one of my favourite superheroes right next to Daredevil.

They slightly hint at it, but the timeline wasn’t completely restored. At the end their costumes have changed and they are younger. Flashpoint sets up the New 52 timeline. The heroes are younger and more reckless and violent. Certain characters are missing now as the timeline was compressed. They show this in the movies, but don’t really talk about it. Even the flash eventually loses his memories of the previous time lines. In the comics, the absence of important legacy characters pushed DC to create the rebirth event which brought these characters back and restored the memories of the pre flashpoint timeline. Although they exist in the new 52 timeline they have the memories of the previous timeline. DC has two types of alternate realities, they have the multiverse which contains alternate universes separated by a vibrational frequency and they have alternate timelines which they call hyper time. Each earth has its own hyper time.

I've long said that Snyder's Batman is basically just Thomas Wayne Batman and the absolutely irony of trying to make one of the off-the-deep-end Batmans the mainstream version. The whole point is it's an extreme alternate version, NOT our main Bruce.

What’s real bad is that even though Aquaman cheating on Mera with Wonder Woman is what led to the war between Atlantis and the Amazons, the REAL perpetrators were actually Orm and another Amazon whose name escapes me. Basically they were afraid of their relationship being discovered when Aquaman and Wonder Woman met in what was thought by all to be both sides “first contact”, unaware of Orm and the other Amazon woman’s tryst that broke both their peoples laws. So Orm and his girlfriend manipulated strings behind the scenes that causes all our war to erupt - the two of them whispering in their monarch’s ears, encouraging greater acts of violence and hatred…all to bury the fact that they were seeing each other before Atlanteans and Amazons found out about one another. Bonus Round: in the Flashpoint Comic, Enchantress was a member of Cyborgs team in the final battle, but she reveals that she was a Themysciran spy who just wants to cause as much chaos as possible. She’s squished to death by Superman landing on her before she can kill anyone important xD.
