Yeah, it's worth remembering that this isn't just him and his friends hanging out - this is his JOB. He's essentially in the military, and he's acting wildly unprofessional. Thank goodness Yamato actually pulls him up on it later, but man is this ever a case of main-character-plot-armour, cause Naruto deserves a lot worse than he gets.

Man, it's amazing how much their perceptions of this intro changes. By the end of this Arc they love it, but at the start, most of them thought it was okay. Suraj is the only one who shit on it from the start. Chris even said he really liked it. But now, all 3 of the homies are shitting on it. It's been so long since I had a friend group as large as theirs, so it's interesting to observe how other people shape your opinions on stuff. For the record, this is easily one of the best Naruto openings!

The elders are just senior shinobi who advise the Hokage, but the Hokage has the power. The ANBU report directly to the Hokage. They're like the CIA. The Foundation are a sub-section of the ANBU, they're like the Deep State. The Hokage knows about them, but keeps out of their business. They do the dirty work and the Hokage looks the other way. Yamato is from the ANBU and reports directly to Tsunade (he was her choice for team captain), and Sai is from the Foundation (he was chosen by Danzo).

Your a bit confused on the standings... Hokage is the RULER of the ninja village, the elders were ADVISORS to the 3rd Hokage... so their word carries weight, but they are not above Tsunade, its like how Shizune is an advisor to Tsunade, and if a 5th Hokage was named, she could still offer input. The only person above the Hokage is the Lord of the land, and thats only in political stuff, not military stuff... each village is inside a land... Konoha (Leaf Village) is inside the Land of Fire which has a "Fire-Lord". Just like how Suna (Sand Village) is inside the Land of Wind and has a 'Wind-Lord".
