Add to the fact that Sawyer is my favorite character & juliet is my favorite female character. Before this I hated the fact kate ended up with jack cause I wanted Sawyer to be with her but after this I stop caring about that & even came to like Kate with jack.

This episode is one of the most underrated in the entire series. I went from thinking that Sawyer was always going to be into Kate (and thinking that he would sacrifice his life for her one day to show that love) to desperately wanting him to live with Juliett in their own "happily ever after." I love the detail about the rope that Sawyer brought to the past when they time traveled. The mysterious rope in the ground is the reason the ancient islanders dug downwards. And also, the Others took the dead bodies and destroy them so that the Black Smoke can’t use them. Kind of a neat detail they don’t explicitly explain.

To answer your questions; The first Ben flashback we had from Season 3 took place 1973 when Ben and Richard first met. One year later in 1974 - 1977, the "Oceanic Survivors" time jumped into this specific time period you are seeing now. Also the Dharma Initiative if you rewatch Season 2 Episode 3 "Orientation" the Asian guy in all the Dharma videos says it was founded by Alvar Hanso (Hanso Foundation) just to give you guys a historic lore on the Dharma Initiative. Season 5 alone dives deep into the history of the Dharma Initiative.

Just came to think of it. So, Sawyer tells Horace about Black Rock, Horace says he never heard about it. Three years later we see him throwing dynamite near the fences. So, either Dharma people including LaFleur found it on the ship, or Dharma had their own dynamite and thanks to Sawyer, removed it to the Black Rock. The fact is that whoever brought this dynamite to the Black Rock, created an advantage for our crew to open the hatch and get rid of Arzt. Great stuff to think about!

If you rewatch Season 2 episode 17 "Lockdown" it was revealed on the Blast Dorr Map that the Dharma initiative knew about the Black Rock. Here is some historic lore for you. The Blast Door created by Radzinsky; if you observe carefully every detail of it you will see the "Known final resting place of Magnus Hanso who was the Captain of the Black Rock ship. And who may you ask was Magnus Hanso? Well Magnus Hanso was the great grandfather of Alvar Hanso and Alvar Hanso was the founder of the Dharma Initiative. When I first saw this my jaws dropped. This show is like a jigsaw puzzle you have to piece together.

I'm not sure why you're having trouble with the timeline, regarding Ben and Widmore. Basic math should clarify. We saw 17-year-old Charles Widmore in 1954, which means present day Widmore in 2007 is about 70. They are currently stuck with the Dharma Initiative in 1977, which means whatever Charles is doing at this point, he's about 40. I don't think it's been specified yet what year 8-year-old Ben first came to the island, but it seems like Dharma was active during the 1970s and 80s, which would make Ben around 40-ish years old in present day 2007, which is 30 years younger than Charles.
