I also saw the movie before I saw the show and loved it. Which of course led me to the show and I loved that even more. Since then whenever I go to a book store I look for the comic books or anything else I can find about the series. It may be my favorite Sci-fi series of all time. I can remember watching the movie the first time and was really enjoying it, but there was one scene and a line of dialog that got me hooked. It was "This isn't the war Mal." "You're telling me that because you think I don't know?" "I just want to know who I'm dealing with. I've seen too many versions of you to be sure." "If I start fighting a war, I guarantee that you'll see something new."

I love the attention to detail. The scar on Mal’s chest is from The Train Job when he gets stabbed. Also fun thing, because Summer Glau was a ballerina the stunt choreographer said she had excellent muscle memory and kept making the bar fight scene more and more intricate.

The brief moment for the long shot where they go downstairs and goes through the dark doorway is the break in the shot. Joss Whedon did everything he could to hide it, and it works really really well.

I honestly think this is Whedon's masterpiece. This is him at his best as both a writer and a director. There are a few Buffy episodes that are on more or less the same level, but that's it.

The ship was built as one single stage so they could room to room unlike most shows where each room is a stage unto itself. The "making of" on the DVD is worth a watch.

Fox aired episodes out of order on Sunday nights after World Series games in 2002, starting with The Train Job, Bushwhacked, and Our Mrs. Reynolds. Then they took a TWO WEEK BREAK before coming back with Jaynestown. Out of Gas, Shindig, Safe, and Ariel were next, then a THREE WEEK BREAK. War Stories, Objects in Space, and the 2 hour pilot Serenity were next. Fox was SUPPOSED to air the last 3 episodes Heart of Gold, Trash, and The Message in July and August 2003, but it never happened.

I love these guys but I gotta agree. I have never seen other reactors step over so many lines in their reactions as the normies do. Their are some parties that are more guilty than others. I won't name names but "WHAATTT???" and "HUHHHH???" said loudly at always the worst time, and loud obnoxious laugher at one punchline which instantly drowns out the witty retort from another characterer are far too common with the Normies. A good reaction is like drinking a fine beverage. Whether it be wine, scotch or zima, let it breath. Don't gulp it down right away, you'll miss the finer points. Otherwise I really love these guys.
