“Cool guy" Paul Faust (one of the heads of the Five Families) was played by Paul Faust. He was not an actor, just a friend of Paul Leiberstein who had visited the set and made an impression on the writers. They wrote the character based on him but had no intention of casting him until they couldn’t cast the part. While he was in New York City, the day prior to filming started, the Office staff called him up, had him read lines into a camera, gave him the part, and flew him to L.A.
