The Glee Club shade was veiled shade thrown @ the show "Glee."
@michaelccozens4 ай бұрын
Yes and no? It was, but it was more because "Community" was a heavily-online show where the writers were fairly-intimately aware of the goings-on in the relevant forums, where there was a lot of griping that, despite Community being viewed (albeit admittedly by Community fans, so not exactly uninterested parties) as objectively a higher-quality show than Glee (it's certainly aged better), Community constantly lost big to Glee in their time-slot in viewership numbers. This was more than just a point of pride, because Community was constantly on the edge of being cancelled, as Harmon was a very-demanding showrunner, shoots often went over-budget, and the writers often pushed the boundaries of what the studio found comfortable. Shows like "Glee" seemed to offer a lot more reward to the execs for a lot less hassle. That's all to say that the "shade" at Glee in the show was more a joke about the semi-vendetta some Community fans were developing against Glee as an avatar of "all that was wrong with TV". Community is definitely one of those shows where the backstory almost always makes the main story even more interesting. Very layered, very contextual.

When I was in high school, a small hotel in our town was getting torn down. Not because it was run down or abandoned or infested or anything. It was just cheaper to tear it down and build a new building in its place, rather than trying to repurpose the building. Anyway, they opened it up for paintball for a couple of weeks. I rather regretted that I was never into paintball, because it sounded like a hell of a lot of fun with people playing RL counterstrike and stuff like that.

LOL! and they take another shot at Glee on their Christmas episode which is a musical and is AMAZING.

Paintballing may look cool, but cold harsh reality taught me a few things: i) getting hit by paintballs hurts, like much more than you think it will ii) if it was a real war, you'd die very quickly iii) keeping your marker/gun in good working order is annoying and fiddly, and it always seems like your gas runs out too quickly iv) getting shot in the face, even when you're wearing a helmet, is always really shocking to your system, like too shocking (then again, I did go back two more times, so it was kinda fun)

Starburns and Dan Harmon are friends. If you listen to the Harmontown podcast, you will find out the hidden jokes (mostly Dan making fun of himself lol) in Community and Rick and Morty. For example the reason why both Rick and Morty have a thing for red heads is because Dan has a thing for them, or how Jeff and Britta are two aspects of Dan's personality. Also there is a real Abed who is actually Dan's friend in real life and those nihilistic monologues Rick is always going on are a darker version of the monologues that Dan goes on on his podcast.
