Phil was just as if not even more abusive towards Ben than Stella ever was. It's ridiculous how the writers turned Phil into a abusive father considering he was a pretty good Dad when Ben first arrived. Wtf Phil wasn't an abusive father. YES he did hit him in 2010. YES he did strip him naked on the motorway. The only time Phil was ever verbally abusive was when he was drunk, and that verbal abuse increased when Ben became a teenager. Phil was never letting Ben be himself (e.g. dancing, baking, watching musicals, being gay) and tried to force Ben into being a man (e.g. boxing, football, being straight). I blame Kate Harwood who had the audacity to kill off Kathy back in 2006, I'm guessing they were really desperate to bring Ben back rather than wait a while.

Nah I agree with you dude. But stripping him naked and throwing him in the middle of a city motorway is just as bad if not worse than what Stella did to him. Phil actually got a kick out of indecently humiliating his own child. He clearly wanted to further traumatize Ben and get right under skin. Tbh, the whole thing didn't make any sense anyway; how they somehow ended up on the central reservation without having a car accident is beyond puzzling lol. The writers screwed with Phil's character there.

I can't deny that Ben has been beyond vile to Phil at times over the years. Just look at how horrible he was to Phil when he was gravely ill: throwing him out of his own house and changing the locks when Phil almost died, humiliating him in the pub and trying to physically attack him more than once, constantly yelling verbal abuse and telling Phil to "go die" and trying to murder him by smothering him with a pillow. Phil deserved it though; both father and son show psychopath traits and are equally as abusive to one another.

@@sammyboy13ify The Mitchell's are baby snatchers: When Tiffany tried to take Courtney away from Grant she ended up being struck by a car, when Phil found out that Louise was his daughter he threatened to push Lisa off the cliff, and when Phil found out that Lexi was his granddaughter he tried to do the same to Lola, and let's not forget Ronnie swapping her dead child. For these reasons, Kathy took baby Ben away from Phil and kept Phil from seeing his son, resulting in Ben growing up calling Gavin his dad. Kathy went as far away as South Africa to get away from Phil, taking Ben with her before Phil ever had the chance to snatch Ben from her.
