Pretty sure the eel's insides were modeled solely because you can see inside his mouth from above, just to avoid placing a simple texture there. There's not much going on in there anyway, no weak spots or anything, so I doubt they had planned for Mario to actually go inside. I mean, how would the camera even work then? It'd be far too annoying for the player, and at that point you might as well create a different, much larger stomach to walk around in.

Hinokuri looks more like a cut Majoras Mask enemy than Sunshine tbh, even the sound effects!

Super Mario Sunshine was definitely planned to be Super Mario Odyssey before the Switch... Too bad they rushed development and pushed out a broken game (which is definitely still fun).

I wish the Tramplin’ Stu had made it into the final game, albeit made to look a little less odd, and without the third eye on its head. Hopefully one day we’ll get a beta build of Sunshine as there’s so much we don’t know about.
