There is this little scene where Gurdjieff brings his car packed with his students to a halt before a church. As if waiting, he remains silent.. It may be very well to say, perhaps, that esoteric language of G. is a sly posturing in times of modernity when the word “God” is a word you cannot speak openly. And it may be better to speak on a more “pragmatic” or pedagogical level. But for those who study G., the doors to that church outside the waiting car soon become recognisable.
