Who knew that the guy who got spanked by Steve Carrell in an episode of The Office would go on to play multiple roles in American Horror Story, or how the Pizza by Alfredo delivery kid landed a role on Glee...amazing. As for Ken Jeong and how he ended up in the improv class, it's all thanks to The Office's casting director, Allison Jones. "I used to be a doctor, a physician, but I was auditioning like after work, during lunch, and Allison Jones just took a liking to me," Jeong said. "She got me an audition for The Office, and keep in mind I really had no screen credits, but she brought me straight into producers." The Office was his favorite show at the time so he's proud to call it his breakout role.

I know they did another movie as they did Threat Level Midnight, but I just respect the fact that they made a movie starring Jack Black and Jessica Alba just for Pam, Jim, and Andy to watch on a laptop. The stakes were high for it considering it served as the follow-up program to Super Bowl XLIII. At NBC's request, creator Greg Daniels needed to develop a standalone type of episode that would welcome new viewers while satisfying existing fans of The Office. The sitcom was already a major success for the network, but all parties acknowledged that big celebrity names draw greater attention. They knew it had to fit Scranton, and so they landed on doing a fake movie so it would include big names without distancing from the paper company.

Seeing all the cameos around the boss interviews make me think of all the alternate timelines where we had different bosses for the last seasons of the office. I do wonder if the writers hit a writing block with Michael leaving. All the cameos served the purpose to experiment and see what could stick for the next season. In a way, all of those interviews were "real".
@jimlahey3919 Жыл бұрын
I promise you that if Jim Carrey, Will Arnett, Will Ferrell or Ray Romano wanted to replace Steve Carell full time, they wouldn’t have to interview/audition. They are all stars who are above having to audition for a cable tv job. Their spots were all strictly cameos. Stars of that magnitude don’t do screen tests to see if the audience is receptive. They get the job handed to them, and the writers write them into the script. They don’t interview for a cable tv job lol. You really think Jim Carrey or Will Ferrell have to interview for a tv job? They are huge movie stars. Arnett and Romano and huge comedy stars also. Way above having to audition for tv. Any tv program would do anything in their power to secure one of those four stars. They were strictly cameos for big name association to make it easier for the viewers to deal with the loss of Carrell. James Spader who took the role, isn’t nearly as big of a name so they needed some star power to bridge the gap. Not that Jim freaking Carrey or Will Ferrell would ever sink to a full time tv job, but if they did, they wouldn’t have to audition to beat out James Spader. No offense to James Spader, but he’s not getting a comedic role over Carrey, Ferrell, Arnett or Romano. Those guys are a wet dream for a cable tv show. Unreachable stars who you can only pray will give you a cameo.

You forgot Danny Cordray aka Timothy Olyphant. Sure he had more than 1 appearance but it should still count.

It would be fun to see Ray Romano as manager

I really wish Joan Cusack was placed earlier in the show. They really should have written this before Michael Scott character left the show. Joan is such a great comedic actress that would have done so well with the characters at Scranton. Imagine Michael Scott finding the mom and the awkward interactions.

Tell me you don’t know what a “cameo” is without telling me… And he was terrible on the show, by the way.

I can’t tell you how long I looked for that film they were watching with jack black. It was just way too much time. I don’t entirely regret it.

Got nervous at 15:30 when they showed Stephen Collins. Thought they were going to list him as a celebrity cameo 😬

There were moments where Andy was the remastered guy like he was annoying at times because he was written to be like that from the perspective of some fav characters so it’s hard as a viewer to not get bothered tooo but certain moments he was the realest human there was and people didn’t appreciate him enough

In the first scene with Ken Jeong, Michael Naughton is the instructor/ teacher. Michael Naughton is the waiter from Always Sunny. 😂😂
