My favorite song of hers is Masterpiece. It was first sang by my mother at my brothers confirmation , then sung at my wedding by my mother, sang at my son’s baptism, then sung at his funeral. This song has healed me in so many ways. Thank you, Sandy, for giving us your ministry through music. I would not have gotten through my hard times without your voice.

Paul Hegstrom in his book, Angry Men and the Woman who love them, goes into detail about what happens when there is abuse (source) and the reactive behaviours that follow the incidents of abuse. If you read the book you will understand why the divorce among other things was reactive behaviour. He also explains the process of closure and healing. Even someone that did not experience abuse will understand and see reactive behaviours in other people and be able to assist them to closure and forgiveness.

I've gone thru similar things, some I remember....others are buried deep in black holes in my mind. When you live in fear of torment, physical abuse, mental abuse, and sexual abuse you loose what worth you feel you have. Living with depression and suicidal thoughts drags you down even further till you feel like you have no value at all. 50+ years of this still makes me feel worthless and unloved. Coming from a broken and dysfunctional family didn't help. Even my 2 marriages failed and pushed me to the brink of suicide. I can honestly say that I have no idea what love feels like, I believe that very few pieces of my heart are left from all that has happened in the past. O k ow GOD exists and that JESUS came and died for me...but I still feel forgotten no matter how I pray for help. I know others have gone thru things like this and perhaps more than I have. I just don't understand why it seems that I'm ignored when i plead for help. My Christian walk is always ruff and it seems like the enemy knows how to knock me down and keep me from trying to get up and continue. I ask for prayers so I can reunite with my daughters and finally have peace and love both from Heaven and on earth.

I've been through rape and dysfunctional family. I'm 61 years old and 2nd cousin raped me. I was afraid to say anything. I was in search of family on my dad side. 6 years ago I wanted to know my dad's side as my family were not great. Hard to explain. When meeting my cousins in WI, and it wasn't until the evening got late and my 1st cousin allowed me to sleep on his couch as it was to late to drive home to MN. My 2nd cousin slipped me a drug and all I could see was clouds. I was numb and cold and didn't know what happened until the sun came up. I drove fast to a gas station and cleansed myself and ashamed. Drove back to MN and told my son's and they punched a wall. I cried for hours... To date I feel my oldest son can't forgive me for allowing this. My sons look at me to be strong. I feel ashamed to date and never reported it. I have loved Sandy Patti since I was in Jr. High, and her songs help me find my voice. I sing at church finally and get lessons. I've gotten counseling but my eldest son I haven't seen since this pretty much happened. I felt worthless...

I love Jesus with all of my heart and I sexually abused as a child. Yes, Sandi did remarry and I approve of her second marriage. In her first marriage ,she was emotionally abused by her first husband. So, being emotionally abusive in a marriage is just as wrong as having an affair. If read Sandi's book Broken On The Back Row she will tell you that she jumped in to marriage to fast with no premarital counseling back then. Her first husband and her did not like each other at all and their first child witness her parents fights. So, yes her first husband and Sandi had a miserable marriage, but people can you forgive Sandi and her first husband going through a divorce? I know Jesus and I have. I have never been married, but I believe there comes time where broken people want out of their broken marriage. Sandi felt so guilty about her divorce and ruining Don's first marriage that she had a nervous breakdown and to go to a inpatient mental health center. I have met Sandi on her farewell tour a very sweet lady who loves God with all of her heart. Please read Broken On The Back Row and The Voice. Be Blessed - Jason

Sandi Patty did have an affair. She came clean about it. I know God forgives sins, including adultery. She says “broken people make broken marriages.” I don’t get how her second marriage is okay since it came out of adultery. I’m not trying to condemn, just confused. Most marriages that come out of adultery fail. Statistics show that to be the case.
