She's still my favorite Christian female singer of all-time! Her vocal range is incredible, and I know she has touched many lives in her lifetime, including mine, and I will always love her and her incredible ministry of music, and reaching others for Jesus!! My all-time favorite duet of hers is when she and Larnell Harris sang " More than Wonderful"!! That song still brings me to tears to this very day in 2023, every time I hear it!! I will continue to pray for her and her ministry, as well as her husband! God bless you always, Sandi Patti! Love you very much, dear Sister in Christ Jesus! A fan FOREVER!

My mother used to say "Christians can be the most judgmental people in the world", as she experienced shaming for mistakes made during her walk with the Lord. Sandi Patty made a full confession to her sin, and sought and followed redemptive counseling. In the eyes of her church pastors, she has repented. That should be more than enough for the rest of us. She has been my favorite artist since 1983, and instead of shaming her, I prayed for her. I am thankful that she continues bless us with her music!

She committed adultery, a very serious sin, and helped to break up another marriage. What about the other spouses and children? We're so quick to defend sinners, and so quick to ignore the people they hurt. Its up to God to judge her, but its up to us to not just ignore the people who get so deeply wounded by the sins of others. Seems like anyone who has an entertainment talent gets a pass on any and everything.

…”And as such were some of you , but you have been cleansed …”. She has felt convicted and has sought to serve the Lord. The Holy Spirit and the Lord will not give up on us . I stayed at the Via Dolorosa , and it was hard and a fight spiritually , all the time I could hear Patty singing “Down the Via Dolorosa” I have been where Patty was , because my husband had been married and his wife divorced him. We were driven from the Church , because the Pastor insisted that my husband of 40 years should try at being married again to his unfaithful wife. We were told to our face the Church was hoping his 2nd marriage to me would fail. I don’t think people understand how TABOO Divorce and remarriage in the Church was held in driving the divorced person from the Church as a failure. But the Lord is truly faithful. We the people are the Church .

When you were finished I thought just let me go to HEAVEN, life can't possibly get any better than this. We all were so proud when you sang on the Johnny Carson show. Your book of Christian hymns I have sung numerous times. I never sing selections from it that people don't come up and say how blessed they were. Now, in my seventies several times a month I go on line to hear you singing, We Shall Behold Him at a Bill Gaither gathering. I can tell you it still gives me goose bumps each time I hear it. Her first husband emotionally and mentally abused Sandi throughout their marriage, her eldest daughter Anna confirms this in Sandi's book Broken On The Back Row. Sandi admitted she was wrong and her first husband agreed he was wrong and both agreed in writing that they would both would accept the break down of their marriage. After the affair was over with in 1991, her pastor told her to behave as Don was dead. Then in 1994 Don and Sandi became friends again and went through three months of premarital counseling before getting married in 1995. Even Don's ex-wife Michelle forgave Don and Sandi. Michelle even remarried her self, she even asked Sandi if she take over as mother to Don and Michelle's three children. The reason being is because Michelle had cancer and passed way from it. The reason I am explaining all this is because the people who still do not want listen or does not want to hear the truth. What I have printed here is well documented in all the books that Sandi has written over the years since being married to Don. My point being if her first husband and Don's ex - wife can forgive Sandi Patty then we as Christians and human beings should forgive her.

Sad that some christians can be unforgiving, forgetting that we are all sinners saved by the loving mercies of God. If any were already perfect, Jesus wouldn't have needed to die to redeemed the lost. I do not condone what she did, but the bible says, he that is without sin, let him cast the first stone. Even when one becomes a follower of Christ, they still fall, make mistakes from time to time, but here's the beauty of God's love, when we truly repent, (God know the heart) confessing our sins He (God) is faithful and just to Forgive and Cleanse us of All Unrighteousness. If God has forgiven, who is man to place themselves as a god and condemn?

@@elainesykes4452, my question would be for those self-sanctified haters that are calling themselves Christians. How can anyone profess to have a relationship with Jesus the Christ and still harbor such hatred and unforgiving towards one that has stumbled in their life? What you say and do speaks so loudly I can't hear a word you say or see anything that you do.

@@richardcline1337 True christians do not behave like the Christless. We should be known as Christians by our love, which is the reflection of Jesus Christ dwelling in us through our words and actions toward our fellow men, whether they are saved or not. One cannot win another soul to Jesus via condemnation. All of us like dumb sheep strayed from God's love. Did He condemn us? No! Through love, the sacrifice of His only Son, He reconciled us back to Him. God is about restoration, that's why He gave His everthing to rebellious, undeserving sinners such ad us. As Christians we too are to restore in the love of our Saviour, the fallen and the hurting. Some Christians cold, unloving, unChristlike attitude have deeply hurt others and have been stumbling blocks to there fellow Christians and also to the searching soul looking for hope and meaning to life that the world can never offer. She is living in adultery according to Jesus Luke 16:18. She has not repented nor is she sorry for what she has done. God tells us in Galatians 5:19-21; 1Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:3-6 those who live by the flesh in adultery will not inherit the Kingdom of God. As a Christian we either stand on God’s Word as truth or we reject it and follow the ruler of this world. Again it bears repeating things different are not the same. Forgiveness and accountability mix like oil and water. Obviously Forgiveness and scars join the ranks too. Yet against that day we lay hold of eternal life! All flesh must die or be changed in the twinkling of an eye. "Enter Jesus" We shall behold him face to face in all of "His" glory! Then the business at hand. Our (accountability) judgment. And also the Great white throne judgment 4 those who have died in their sins For them this judgment will be (the 2nd death worse than the first) After judgment God will cast those who have died in their sins into the lake of fire. But for His bride God will wipe away every tear from their eyes to be remembered no more. O' What a Savior!. Home free! btw I'm the worst sinner I know bc i know me better than anyone else knows me (except) for the Lord. Your sin is your shame my sin is my shame. Our sin has cost us both plenty and disqualifies us for much but for Christ finished work of cross. These following two scriptures r worth losing a little sleep over from time to time. Think on this. Paul cautions all believers 2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Please look the other way when it's my turn to be judged and I will extend you the same courtesy. I still love doing it. Not one of us is perfect, and we all make mistakes. God looks at hearts and the fruits of our labours, not the sins that have been washed away by Jesus.

I lost track of her after college and I went on with my life. I love Sandi Patty too. After she admitted her sin and asked for forgiveness in 1995. The public did forgive her in 1996 she released a new Christmas album called O Holy Night and some concerts to support the album. Then in 1997 she released Artist of my soul and won a dove award for that project in 1998. In 1999 she released a Spanish album which won a dove award in 2000. In 1997 she was asked by Jan Crouch to do a Artist Of My Soul concert on TBN Next, between 1999 and 2001 she appeared in the Gaither Home Coming videos she sang I've Just Seen Jesus, More Than Wonderful, Right Place - Right Time, and Searching. 2002 she did a tour called The Girls Are Back In Town which received good reviews. in 2000 she released These days which I thought a was a good album. In 2003 she released Take Hold of Christ. I love the song Take Hold Of Christ, words of that song makes me cry. Then in 2004 she released Hymns Of Faith - a two disc set. I love her take on the song Shout To The Lord. In 2005 she received world wide acclaim in 2005 due to the Hymns tour. In 2004 she was placed in the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame. in 2010 she released Edge Of Divine which won 2011 three dove awards for Sandi. Through the years Sandi Patty's How Great Thou Art which is a beautiful song has kept Sandi in the public eye in a positive way, plus We Shall Be Hold Him. My point is Sandi never went any where she has always remained popular in the public eye. The southern gospel community and her co - artist forgave her along time ago and I forgave her. The reason I am listing all the things she did is because is after her confession in 1995, a lot people not all forgave her sins and continued to love and support her music. I love Sandi and her music. God and Jesus does forgive and loves us. He is the only one that can judge us not other human beings. God is the God of second chances. God Bless You All - Jason.

Given her public renown at the time, she would have to have been conscious of how her actions would "put Christ to an open shame" Hebrews 6:6.

One of my favorite female gospel artist...grew up listening to her music as a child straight up to adulthood. Some so-called christians are such hypocrites. It is not our job to try and destroy a gift that God provided to bring joy into others lives.I am sure Sandy is right with God and repents as we all must do. You are missing the truth. Sandi I was anoited with a voice to Glorify God and minister to people. Sandi made a choice knowing what she was doing was against God and the Ministry she had been given by Him. Her sin was more important then God. Why would she be worthy to continue to minister? She did not repent and turn to her first husband to restore their marriage ,she continued to follow her sin and repent after Christians rejected her. That is not true repentance She and her boyfriend betrayed God ,they both knew His Word and chose to disobey knowing the consequences. God's Word says it I'd wrong to leave a husband or wife for another and is adultery. Repentance doesn't make your sin ok. Why should they make money singing God's word/ truths when it is not in them?

@@carolynnmarkiewicz6015 You missed a very big point. She DID repent and asked for forgiveness. The last time I checked only God is perfect. Since when is it ok, as a believer, to act as if we know better than God? He offers forgiveness.... What makes us think we shouldn't just because someone has sinned? All sin is a choice and, sadly, it remains hidden for far too long in many lives. Just because WE don't know about someone else's sin doesn't mean it remains hidden from God. All your have to do is read the OT to know how God can use people IN SPITE of their sins. HE is the one who knows all and sees all. His mercies and grace are beyond bounds. Who are we to think we shouldn't forgive and show grace and mercy when God is ready, able and willing to show them to us?

Leona Seller, Christians don't just wound their own, the throw them under the bus! In Galatians 5, we are commanded not to devour or consume one another. Time to let it go and let her work it out with God. She is forgiven by Him, let us do likewise and enjoy her talent she was blessed with.

@@carolynnmarkiewicz6015 And you have never sinned? Or do you consider your sin, secret or otherwise, not as great as her sin? You are the one who has missed the point. God's mercy and grace is abundant and inexhaustible and it does not cancel out the ministry God has given her. The legalistic, unforgiving members of the body of Christ are a far bigger problem than her repented of sin. It's tragic and projects a lie to the world about the heart of God and the full cleansing of the blood of Christ.

This news (new to me only just now), moves me to compassion for Sandi. She has confessed & is forgiven & Jesus Himself has told us: "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who've trespassed against us". She is a true, gifted artist of the highest caliber. If we all knew the demands placed upon her & her gruelling schedule while she was working, plus whatever was going on behind the scenes (& the Lord knows!), the "industry" & media need to self-examine (as Sandi did) & stop trying to promote perfection. There isn't any (except in the Lord Jesus Himself). Her voice is a gift & her solos & duets so inspirational & moving. Love ya, Sandi. "He who sings prays twice!"

I will always love Sandi Patti’s voice and believe she is forgiven. I believe many are not simply judgmental but feel those who are in ministry are held to an even higher standard because of their influence among believers and unbelievers. To whom much is given, much will be required. I understand that. I was also involved in a Christian music ministry and expected more of myself. My being used of the Lord through that ministry, even though on a much more local level, I took very seriously how I lived my life. Though I am not perfect, any more than any Christian is, I would have known that having an affair as a married woman with another married man is serious sin. It affected not only her first marriage and family but the family of her now husband who also had been married with children. There are many baby Christians would are struggling in their own marriages who look at a person who was a leader and visible example in the Church at large who chose to have an affair and hide it, then further leave her husband and marry the man who left his own family. People should never put anyone but Jesus as an example, but in the church there are those who would turn away from the church when it becomes more like the world and there is no difference in the leaders and highly visible live their lives. It is not so much judgment but the Bible makes it clear that people in ministry and visible to mature and immature believers alike are held even more responsible in how they live their lives. I do understand why the church at large responded the way some did. I learned a long time ago not to put anyone but the Lord Jesus on a pedestal. People will fall and grace will cover the greatest of sins and certainly the sin that they committed. I don’t think it was divorce that caused the controversy as much as 2 married people each leaving their families to marry each other. Divorce happens because of physical abuse or other kinds of abuse or for continual infidelity. In those cases, I don’t believe that people would have banned her music. It was not the divorce per se as it appears the narrator was saying was a no no but the awful reason for it and the families left behind on both their parts that people reacted to. I still listen to Sandi Patti and attended a concert after the scandal. But it was for the music not because I put Sandi Patti on a spiritual pedestal. I don’t think I ever did really see her in that way even before the scandal. People fail, and humility and repentance is what the Lord asks, as far as I read scripture. It is the we’ll live like the world on every day of the week and then doing the Sunday thing that I think will result in the Lord saying, depart from me I never knew you. The Bible says count the cost. Maybe quietly removing herself from the limelight and the money through Christian ministry would have been a more humble and repentant thing to do. Only God knows. I feel the same about these ministers who excuse themselves while laying the law down for others. I find it hard to listen to their teaching/preaching anymore. But that’s me. I would put the same on myself.
