This is one of the most incredible R&B Groups in history. The group was formed in Harvey, Illinois while the members were in high school in 1952 under the name the El Rays and had a 60-year run until 2012. Was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Just absolutely amazing what they were able to accomplish!!

The Mighty Dells have one more song they are known for. 'Oh What a Night' (1969) was their second top ten hit on the Billboard charts since their first in 'Stay in My Corner the year before. 'Oh What a Night' is just as dynamic as the first two you'd heard. And a thought just came about. Motown had their own version of the Delfonics and The Dells. Now, im not sure if this was Motown's counter what was going on in Philly with the success of The Delfonics and/or in Chicago where The Dells were having success, but Detriot wanted to represent - it could be the other way around, im not sure. But the group 'The Originals' had a couple of big hits themselves including one song that hit Number 1 on the R&B charts in 1969 'Baby I'm For Real' and in the same year another hit with 'The Bells'.
