You guys have a really cool bond. And don't worry, it's part of the metal music evolution you go through when not accustomed to the genre. Some songs are a little too much, too fast, too crazy, and you turn away from it a bit, and disconnect some. The more you explore, though, the more you understand and appreciate what is going on musically. Some day you'll be looking back at this song, saying to yourself:" Damn, I can't believe there was a time I didn't really like this song"

@primary26302 жыл бұрын
@@jeffspalding5368 I think that's unfair. It was the whole band who did it. IMO And Justice For All is perfect as it is and whether or not it was an insult to Jason on bass is irrelevant imo because the way they mastered the album is the way that brought it to fame. The bass is an underrated position in general because it is often at its best being subtle in an ensemble like this, but this is the way it was and it created an absolutely amazing album start to finish.

Metallica's 4th album came in 1988 after the death of their bassist Cliff Burton in 1986... the band was involved in the tour bus accident. The loss of his friend re-traumatized James Hetfield, who already had a rough upbringing - his father left, his mom died from cancer while he was a teen... and when they worked on the lyrics and music for this album w/ bassist Jason Newsted joining the band, he delivered some of the heaviest riffs of his life. And all his lyrics were just raging at everything... the whole album, "EVERYTHING EFFIN SUCKS!" "Blackened" - our world is eff'd... "And justice for all" - our legal system is BS!... "Eye of the beholder" - "our 'freedom' is an effin joke!"... 'One' - war has eff'd me up... and on and on... One of the best record ever put on tape (even w/ the bass faded out) 🤘🤘🔥🔥

As much as I love Metallica, I've never been blown away by Lars' drumming following this album. ...And Justice for All probably has my favorite rhythms of his before the decline of his technique.

Metallica would be even greater if they had a talented drummer like Mike Portnoy or Jason Rullo.

Love the reactions! You should check out some Slayer (Raining Blood or Angel of Death) and Anthrax (Indians or Caught in a Mosh)... together with Metallica and Megadeth they made up the "Big Four of Thrash" and were instrumental in shaping the course of metal through the 90s

Great reaction! If you want more songs with great messages from similar rock bands I’d suggest “The Shortest Straw” by Metallica based on the book “Naming Names”; “Peace Sells…but Who’s Buying” by Megadeth; “Indians” by Anthrax; “House of Suffering” by Bad Brains; “Pride” by Living Colour; “Driven To Tears” by The Police and “Subdivisions” by Rush!!

If y'all are continuing with Metallica then try out "Spit out the Bone" from one of their newer albums. Goes back to their thrash metal and hits so damn hard. The music video is pretty dope as well.
