Some facts about 8 Mile - was the number 1 movie in the box office upon release, nominated for 32 awards, won an academy award and a Grammy, soundtrack went quadruple platinum and was also number 1 upon debut, selling 700k copies first week. Lose yourself was number 1 for 12 weeks and was Eminem's first number 1 single, and was the first hip hop song to win an academy award. It was one of only three rap songs from the 21st century to be included on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, being the highest ranked at number 166 and is certified diamond. There's literally like hundreds of essays written about Lose Yourself. It was #1 23 weeks straight which was the record and might still be the record for a rap song. First rap song nominated for song of the year at the Grammys. Got nominated for a golden globe. List goes on and on but what happened with 8 Mile in general is rare as fuck. A superstar musician starring in the number 3 highest grossing movie of the year and producing a quad platinum album with one of the greatest pieces of music in your genre in the movie.

I was gonna add the comment I'm posting below but I'm late and you beat me to it! 🤣 Em actually asked Anthony Mackie if he could put some real life shit in his diss to Papa Doc. Anthony said yes. Eminem delivered. 😂 "Anthony Mackie says, “There was this one day, we were sitting on the set and Eminem comes over and he’s like ‘what’s up man, I was reading a script and there is no reason for me not to like you, you are cool dude, I like you’ and then I said ‘I like you too.’ And then he was like ‘Cool, So you don’t mind if I add some stuff in the script about you? I was like ‘About me or the character?’. He’s like ‘no, no just some character stuff’. I’m like yeah no problem. So before the entire 8 Mile final battle, he googles me and learns about me and all that stuff he basically makes fun of me as Papa Doc. [Laughs] And then I’m like ‘That’s a little personal Mr. Marshall… I grew up in a nice house, my parents were nice to me, why are you making fun of me [Everyone laughs]. He literally walked over and said this gonna be dope.” When it came time to film the final rap fight, Mackie understood Eminem meant to disgrace him on stage by using true material from his life. “So he goes, and his entire battle, the final rap, he Googles me and learns about me and all this stuff,” Mackie said. “And he basically makes fun of me, as Papa Doc. And I’m like, ‘That’s a little too personal there, Mr. Marshall.’” 😂😂😂

One thing that you can admire that I can understand also is that the people that had his back they were loyal He's loyal to them it's just admirable there's none of that really ever being talked about. I've been down in the trenches and the most unlikely people have my back and a lot of them don't even look like me.

little known fact. the ending of this movie, the freestyle battle was inspired by one of the fiercest rap battles ever known to man. if you want to know what inspired this ending, check out "Iron Mic: Eli Porter vs Envy". So many of todays rappers always mention both Eli and Envy as the standard to a freestyle battle.

Much respect to Brandan for getting his school on. This was one of the best scenes for me but I have to say when Free world shot at Rabbit and his homeboy panicked is my favorite.

Lovin' your reaction & to me Marshall has like shark eyes... 👊🎶 My favorite line is at the end "tell these people somethin' they don't know about me"... He won instantly! Cuz he already roasted himself!!!! That's the magic of Marshall, he's authentic and real that he crosses the color, culture, everything line cuz he touches at the heart of us all! You can't just pretend to be that way.... He's the real deal, and why millions of people love his music and message.❤

I remember first seeing this movie....my Friend at work seen it a little while earlier... he asked me what I thought of it... I told him that it was freakin AMAZING! I told him we should go across the boarder to Detroit and go watch some of these rap battles on the weekend... My friend said... are you crazy! We'd be the ONLY while guys there! You wanna die! ? I'm like....we're not gonna die, we just wanna watch. Common.. lets go. He didn't want to. I love all types of music and having 2 guys who are great rappers would be awesome to watch! You might see someone rap before they become famous!!

I have the original movie on DVD. Back in the day we had to go to a store to buy the shit. It was a limited edition at the time so it has all kinds of crazy extra shit that ain't nobody seen unless they own it. This whole scene was so crazy like if you watch it in slow or pause a lot, you'll see people in the crowd you know as celebrities now. A lot of the crowd was extras but also in the underground rap scene back then. So they all did music in one way shape or form. There were actual battles done as auditions to find the best of the best to be featured. There's also a ton of cameos throughout the movie. This making me wanna go thru that extra shit and enjoy it for the millionth time. ♥️♥️♥️♥️

"I don't know what they told you Mike, but you must have them cornrows rolled too tight" "You worked in this plant so long, you're a plant" My favourite bars from the Movie. Plus the scene with Obie Trice where Future (Mekhi) spits too
